Pins already?
    #992504 - 10/25/02 12:03 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

I set a fully colonized jar out to be exposed to light and lower temps on monday, then yesterday (thursday), i birthed it and let it dunk for 12 hours (on my desk, exposed to light). Last night after the dunk i put it into my terrarium. where i found it this morning, to have a few very small bumps on it. just a little bit "browner" than the mycelium. could these be pins already? also, when a cake is bruised, is the "blue" a sort of blueish-green? thanks

Sweet and Sweeter. I knew I would find the answers sunday or possibly tomorrow, but sometimes it's nice to get a quick idea. Thanks! :-)

It kinda depends upon how long the cakes have been colonized in the jars before you birthed them, if they've been colonized for two weeks (espcially if they have been exposed to light and lower temps for those two weeks) or so, and then you birthed them, then yeah I'd say they could be pins, but if its like they just got done colonizing three days ago, then I'd say they aren't pins.

I dunno, they are definately "something".... I guess I will know soon... the jar had been kinda done colonizing about a week before i let it sit intot he light, except for a small patch on the bottom. I loosened the lid till it was almost off, and thwamped it down to knock the cake offf the bottom, then tightened the lid back up. then it almost instantly finished on the bottom....

Either way it sounds like you'll have your pins soon enough, congrats on your first success (i think)
