storing coco coir..

OK i bought a brick of coir and mixed with 3 liters of water,any way how long would it be good for sitting in a cleaned out new 5.gal ?i mean will i be able to use it for future projects ?

i would think if you let it dry out, you can just rehydrate and pasteurize it later on when you need it.

I just had some unused, hydrated coir get green mold.

It was in a 5 gallon bucket WITH THE LID ON. I forgot about it.

Usually when I have leftover, hydrated coir ... I leave it in a 5 gallon bucket (like you), an OPEN 5 gallon bucket .. and every once in a while ... every few days I'll mix it around until it is dry or I am ready to re-pasteurize it.

So .... just let it air out and dry and re-pasteurize when the time comes.

if you dont use it all
just freeze the rest
then re pasteurize
this works well for me
