You don't want the wire to be as hot as possible, just hot enough to melt the plastic but not burn it. You could use a rheostat to adjust the voltage (hence temperature) of the wire so it's just right. personally I wouldn't bother, just use an iron and a sheet of paper (apparently it works.. I haven't tried)

It's all an openion thing. I'd say the rubbermaid that everyone has had for cheap and easy.. then you move up to the aquarium heater and sealed or unsealed water container. 6t's file cabnet with the heating pad is somewhere in there. Then there's plywood contraptions with fan, heating cable, humigrader(sp), thurmometer and such. There's also bacteriological incubators and such for petri dishes and cultures. We need to get a pic thread for this.

well.. an iron works.. if you wanna use that... but yeah.. of course you dont want to burn the material...
