I have read increasing the spore count will cause the mycelium to appear sooner. Consider if the extra spore solution would cost more than the $7 aquarium heater from Walmart

The good thing about this hobby is that experimentation is very acceptable! Even highly rewarding

When I first started I would innoculate with the recommended 1/2 to 1 cc (MMGG). then I found out that I had some spore solution left in the syringe...what a waste :frown:...so I now just guest-imate the amount. I truly think that adding more would help the colonization rate. It has for me

To answer your questions, yes. In general, adding more spore solution will speed up colonization time. Usually, I feel this is not ideal due to the numerous, competing mycelial entities all vying for nutrients and space.

i use less than 2cc, incubate at 86 degrees F and get 100 percent in 2 weeks. so your results may vary. but one potential danger is the liquid added with more spore solution. there will be a point of diminishing returns where the harm of too much water will be greater than the benefit of more spores.

Simply because I do not know, is 2 weeks for total colonization considered fast? What would be an average time?
