liquid culture help

so i just started my first lc, i followed ottos honey tek, but im not seeing alot of results. I started last sunday, injected 2 cc's, and stored it in a pretty warm place (prolly around 78 degrees).

Could the issue be that i didnt use enough honey? i didnt measure it out, just kinda guessed it. I just squeezed the bottle until there was a layer at the bottom.

I have been, i was actually in the process of setting up my first pk tek. I had a buddy give me the rest of his syringe, which only happened to be the 2cc's. so i was just trying to save money and make some more. I think i should just gone with the cakes, but just learnin from mistakes =D

Your problem could be too much honey, but I can't be sure without knowing the exact amount you used. You definitely want no more than 4% sugar in the mix. If anything you should err on the not-enough-honey side of things. I started an LC on my first ever attempt (although I knocked mine up with an agar wedge rather than spore solution) and have since used it. It worked out very well for me.

Just as a side note, I do everything in a glovebox.

2% is quite enough honey. Half a teaspoon into 200ml water. Pressure cook for 15 minutes. Let cool and inoculate in a glovebox. Use a jar that has an inoculation port in the lid. It is easy to make one, just make a small hole in the lid and add a blob of silicone to both sides.

It looks like u used to much honey but if u don't know how much u put in u will never know. Buy a syringe and do some PF cakes. Good luck.

update - I GOT FUZZ BALLS YAY. so i got some myc floating around in there. I think it was a lack of heat, I just check the therm. and my room temp was hovering around 71, so i moved the jar to directly on top of the heat source, and today def is producing alot. Im also upping my swirling to hourly. I think its all situational, but im not about to jinx it.

Ill try to be more accurate with my measurements, lesson learned. thanks for the advice

I think it was a coincidence. 71 degrees is plenty for colonization, a higher heat does nothing but promotes contaminants...
