Best Album You Liked that Came out this Year

I have been pretty apathetic to most of the shit cranked out by Corporate Rock Operatives as of late, but I must say, I just laid down my money for the new Peter Gabriel album UP, and it does not dissapoint.
Please skip this post if you're not a Fan, because it is dripping with honeyed praise.
If you havent heard UP - Please pick up a copy - Its so reminiscent of his Post Genesis works - and his lush voice is amazingly crisp - Sounds like it did 10 yrs ago - 20 yrs ago - Maybe it is the editing , but I was floored. I stroke my PG tickets on a nightly basis - I have them sitting by my night stand - I cant wait to see him at MSG - I'm all a twitter now - This CD is fantastically slick, and oozes with the confidence I havent seen since "PG 2" - Please buy if you likey PG -
Oh yes, I did have a question here: What Album that has come out this Year has moved you ? -OoD

Les Claypool's Purple Onion is probably the only good album out all year.

Without a doubt Non-Phixion's "The Future Is Now". Best album i've been able to listin all the way through without throwing it out the window. The only draw back was that they felt the need to state there groups name atleast 15 times on every song. But i mean a line up like Dj Premier, JuJu from the Beatnuts, Large Professor, and Pete Rock can not be topped. But im most likely the only one who liked this album anyways, so i'll quit blabbling

Definately without a doubt, my favorite album from '02 is:
Slaughter & the Dogs - Beware of...
Yup, one of my favorite 70's british punk bands are finally back and released a new album on www.tkorecords.com . None of the songs beat "Where Have all the Bootboys Gone" but thats to be expected. They put on a good live show too!
Runner up would definately have to be NYC's NY Rel-X's She's Got a Gun/Paranoia. Screw Avril, (ha, I wish) this is female punk!

I've always felt PG was cool. I don't know too much of his stuff but I guess what first tipped me off to him was eighties releases like Games without Frontiers or Shock the Monkey. But I can't think of an album that came out this year that I really liked.... I'm sure there was lots of great stuff I didn't hear. Eddie Hinton "Hard Luck Guy" from '99 is going to be my next purchase. I'm a little behind the times.

FC Kahuna - Machine says Yes: the best electronic album nobody knows about. Quite possibly the best House album of all time.

Frog- PG can do no wrongin my eyes - But the titles you mentioned are his 'radio friend;y' works Try "Security" or the PG Album usually called 'Car" it has no title - it ws his first Post-Genesis Album. All his stuff is good - but this is better - "Revisisted" is a nice sampler Bye -OoD

Ectopia by Steroid Maximus is great. Real freaky album. Very loud electronic stuff with horns and assorted classical samples... great for blasting at incredible volumes.

Veni, Vidi, Vicious by The Hives. That's good punk. 45 or 46 Songs That Were'nt Good Enough To Go On the Other Albums by NOFX is good too. WiretapScars by Sparta. Is This It by The Strokes. I think that covers it.

I'm with your here, this is probably one of the better albums out in a couple years. Vida Blue and Trey Anastasio's solo album are up there in my book to.

How about best album of THIS millenium? ..
I'd say Tim Christensen: "Secrets On Parade"

My pick would be Down- a bustle in your hedgegrow... Though I haven't seen any indication of blues/metal fans around so my choice may be met with contention.
