My opiate addicion. advice needed
    #9715933 - 02/01/09 06:16 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Ive been taking opiates almost everday for the past 2-3 weeks before I arrived here, in England on Jan 26th, to see my cousins till Feb 11th. Before that I took the at least 2-3 times a week.

Ive been craving opaites so much during this trip, and usually when Im not on them all I want to take some. Iven ben taking 25mg oxys, and vicodins , not herion. So ive been off the opiates since Jan 26th now. Im prescribed Lexapro 20 mg, Abilify 2mg, Klonopin 3mg and Temazepam 30mg, but the addiction to my benzos is not nearly as worse, I take these for anxiety and depression. I was not getting full night of sleep so ie been taking a few more benzos than presribed, and smoking pot.

I feel that im doing well, except that im still craving a vicodin to relax me. Anyone have the same problem? Any advice?

your habit is very small right now, if it bothers you this bad now my only advice is to evaluate the situation and hopefully stop while you're ahead.

Yeh as zSDMF said it seems like your habit is not too big right now, stop now or do something about it before it gets too hard to quit.

If you find it hard then do something to take your mind of it, go the the gym or something, it will make you feel a whole lot better too. The endorphin release can be pretty strong when you exercise hard you know, it's a natural hormone and it is an opiate. I'm sure it would help with any opiate withdrawal symptoms you might be feeling.

Luckily you are only in the early stages of opiate use. The best way to alleviate addiction is so keep your mind off it by staying busy... Do hobbies, read a book, go hiking etc. In my own personal experience, staying home doing nothing was the worst thing I did. Because opiates will be on your mind alllll day. If you keep busy, you will be thinking about opiates much less. If you need any other help or have any questions, feel free to ask

In our lives we are faced with many addictions. Whether they be harmful or unharmful, addictions can turn into a real problem. The key is to identify which addiction you no longer wish to use and replace it with another. Its that easy, its up to your choice whether or not you want to be an addict or not.

I can't stress the importance it is to (not)!! let yourself get addicted to opiates!!! yes we all love them but just starting out stay away!!! or use sparingly nothing will control your life more than an opiate addiction!!! and the withdraw is horrible. I'll put it this way I've had second degree burns to 20% of my body and would rather that happen too me again than have to deal with opiate withdrawl one more time. As for the Benzo's sounds like ya got a little much there too. after awhile you develop a tolerance to these drugz and it just keeps growing. anyway I'm not sure why I wrote this but I hope it has some impact............................................E

If withdrawals are the issue look into kratom for easing them. I'm not saying definitely use it, but look into it: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Kratom_Addiction_Habituation.shtml
