Sports are uneventful. I honestly don't see why people get so excited. I would get excited for actually playing the game. Not watching others play the game.

People who watch, but don't play, can't play because they know they suck.

Sports are gay.

Maybe they should just talk about drugs all day instead.

I think sports and drugs are quite similar one to another,
some are very interesting on a mental level others make for a generally dull experience

to the OP: why don't you try some new ones and see for yourself how sports can give you immense rushes and make you feel much better about yourself

QFT.

There is absolutely no basis for saying a pro athlete should make less money than they make now.

People who can perform any task are a commodity and are paid according to their usefulness.  While teaching may be an admirable and important profession, there are literally hundreds of thousands of people out there qualified to teach.  Thus, the pay is not spectacular.  There are slightly fewer people, but still tens of thousands I'm sure, that are capable of being doctors.  Their pay is slightly higher as a result.

Now, there are ten people in the entire world who can hit small ball moving 105mph 400 feet out of a ballpark, and do it on a regular basis 40 times a year.,

*10*.

Out of 6 billion people.

Why should they be paid less than some guy giving Hollywood starlets fake tits or a grad-school drop-out teaching retards to read in Brooklyn?

Because the person teaching retards to read in brooklyn is providing a worthwhile service to the bettering of society, while the people who can hit a ball are really quite useless to society, and in fact one could argue that they are actually degrading society.  They dull peoples minds by providing a distraction from the important things, less thinking, more buying.  It's fucking ridiculous that they get paid that much.  I'm gonna start a professional jerking off league and be the best at it so I can get paid millions of dollars a year.

I never thought about the fact that sports are easy, and people like to feel intelligent, that is very true.

I agree.

Sports can be taught, like anything else. Some people tend to be a bit better than others, naturally, but so what? They shouldnt earn more money than everyone else for running in circles.

It's so stupid how some people are so obsessed with baseball, basketball, football, or other sports.  They act like it's some sort of breaking news, and are always jabbering about who made a 3 pointer, who got picked for a different team, etc...its all so meaningless!  It's just a game that's been played the same way over and over.  Also, professional sports players should NOT be making millions of dollars.  Scientists, Doctors, and people who actually make a difference in the world should be paid extraordinary wages, not some fake idiot who takes steroids and plays a game his whole life.

sports can take you just as high as anything else.

the endeavour of man should be to perfect himself.

both the mind and body need cultivation to achieve perfection.

therefore sports are an important part of our humanity.

Know thyself.  know both your academic and physical limits.  and push them.

obviously you are a dumbass for thinking that pushing the limit of human physical prowess is meaningless.

These retards that obsess over it without participating.. yes they are dumb.  but not as dumb as you.

at least they see some importance in one of the most important things.

Sports can be very inspiring, for kids for example.

I do agree that some athletes are overpaid, however, anyone who has been into sports knows that being one of the greatest takes talents and so much work.

Some basketball players would run hours and hours, shoot free throw for hours and hours, do workouts four hours and hours, this everyday, train harder, harder, harder until they get the chance to go to college... many sacrifices, and don't forget it's a bet.

Check out all the guys who almost reached the top but were injured just before... check out all the guys who weren't picked. Check out all the guys left aside.
The best weren't born the best. They weren't especially taught to be the best. But they made themselves the best... and were lucky enough to be picked.

So, yeah, athletes are very inspiring to anyone who wishes to improve himself. It shows you that it's possible if you work hard, it shows you that people made it.

Ever heard of "no pain, no fame"? Sports are made of sweat and tears.

Definitely agree that pro sports guys are paid way too much money. Sure, they're athletes at the very top of their game, but what are they really accomplishing and does it really matter? Not really, unless you find their abilities personally inspiring. I don't.

Of course, I also have a bone to pick with the cast of CSI being paid a cool mil for each episode they appear in. Our culture is unhealthily obsessed with entertainment.

Again, supply and demand.

If you don't think what they do is any way special, find someone else who can do it.

What is your definition of something that "matters"?

They (pro athletes) are responsible for tens of billions of dollars worth of revenue, tens of thousands of jobs, and putting forth a product that is very important to millions of people.

That, in my book, is important.

I like sports, they're wonderful for physical health and social interaction. Excellent for kids, keeps you active as an adult. They are cool to check out on the T.V. every once in a while, but I'd prefer to watch college sports to professional sports any day.
I hate professional sports, where athletes get paid millions of dollars.
Sure, they train hard, but so do firemen, what the fuck?

Basically it comes down to the values of our society, and currently they are fucked up. We pay millions of dollars for the wrong reasons, be it running in circles or lying to a camera.

I think skateboarding is 1,000,0000,00000 times better and more rewarding than any team sports. you also get to keep your individuality and use a skateboard how you want, with no fucking coach on your back.  But that is just me. I can see all the jocks replying with angry messages  :omgawesome::rolleyes:

you dont find athletics inspiring?!?!?!?  wtf

do you find any sort of competition inspiring?

do you find music inspiring?

you must realize that there are many ways in which to express the greatness of being human.

althetics are one of them.

atheltics cultivate our natural warring urges into a beautiful spectacle of human acomplishment.  it doesnt matter if you find the end result impressive its the process that you should recognize as amazing.

dont hate on sports man.

why would jocks hate on skateboarding?

u are implying that sports take your individuality

LOL @ U

the impressive thing with sports is how all the individuals act as one while still displaying unique abilities from each other.

while you as a skater make your body work for the idea in your mind

a soccer team will work very hard to connect all of their bodies to THE MIND or the team in order to act effortlessly as a whole.

its not really different at all.
