There have been tons of posts about 'hydro' shrooms over the years. A rig once posted here that had recirculating heated water in hydroton underneath the substrate was the closest thing to it. Even though Psilocybe cannot feed 'hydroponically' they can be grown in a hydroponic environment.

One of the most misinformed things in this hobby is the use of vermiculite. Those gold flakes are terrible for the human digestive system. I noticed I got more nauseous from the ones covered in them, now I always PICK OFF THE FLAKES FIRST.

DON'T USE VERMICULITE, use coco fiber instead.
