mushrooms in dried dung, can I still use?!?!

A friend went and collected some dried dung to use for spawning purposes. He had it sitting in a rubbermaid container w. lid on in his garage. Since he collected it, it has rained a lot and gotten humid and mushrooms (not the good kind) have started growing out of the dried dung. Can he still use this, will they be done away with during pasteurization or will they stay in the dung and rot causing contamination?? Thanks!!!

That's pretty cool. I think it's mildly ironic that people on here (myself included) ask some detail oriented questions about the specific growth parameters, and here is some shit in a garage, and shrooms just grow. just goes to show, I s'pose... if it's good to use, I have no idea, but I would imagine, but keep in mind a small percentage of nutrients have been used up, probably not even an issue.... oh, I just thought, that there is the tiny chance that
1) those mushrooms are poisonous
2) the mycelium of those contain poison, hence, so does the dung
3) the poison is not broken down by 170 degrees
4) the poison would infiltrate the shrooms you grow

Not sure the possibility of alll those being true, but you never know...

those are some very good suggestions trance!! I hadn't though of that. I know the ones that actually grew up aren't poisonous, just the typical common mushroom that grows out of dung in the south. But there are many primordia forming all over one of the chunks, what species I have no idea. I imagine I will wait for one of the badasses to come along and answer this before I proceed. Thanks!!!!

Are they "inky's". If so, pick em off (throw away) & just paturize the hell of of that dung & go for it.
