I would opt for some type of an engineering major (as Tangerines listed).  You'll thank me when you graduate and need a job.

Unless you know beforehand you want to dedicate yourself to science and pursue an advanced degree heed this advice.

...the whole experience is (and is as) a profound piece of knowledge.  It is an indellible experience; it is forever known.  I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did.

Touche.  Although him asking and wanting to 'make drugs' with his major makes me think he doesn't practically know what he wants to do.  I believe engineering to be the 'safer' choice for a situation such as this.

I am definitely strongly biased though

Chemistry is very much physics at some level.  I prefer physics, it has more first principles and mind bending theories.  Other parts of chemistry are like biology in that they are phenomenological, that is you build models based of off observed behavior rather than appealing to first principles.  I think a division along these lines better fits different skill sets, rather than historical divisions of physics, chem and bio.

Does anyone know what kind of chemistry would be most helpful for synthesis of sayyyy MDMA, LSD, and that sort of thing

Organic Chem?? I really have no idea on what the differences are between the different kinds of chemistry.

If you're at a good school with a good lab program/course, then orgo I and II + labs should be enough. A lot of places teach shitty orgo tough.
