Mycobag Day-3
#9892115 - 03/01/09 06:42 PM (15 years, 1 month ago) |
|
|
Well its day 3 since I inoculated my 5 mycobags. No signs of growth on any of the bags, however some but not all of the bags have a little bit of condensation building up in them. Is this a good or a bad sign? Also, should I be seeing growth by now? If not, how long before I can expect to see growth?

I'd say wait a week And I wouldn't get upset till maybe two it took mine exactly a week both times, and that was with PF jars, shot directly on the glass. Your doing a bag, which may even take longer. I've noticed one of the hardest things of this is being patient. Your bags or probably fine and when you get some results post us.

Yeah 3 days is a little too early to tell anything. check them in about a week.
I too checked my jars everyday. Patience is the key to this hobby.

3 days??? PF cakes dont even grow in 3 days... bags take 2+ weeks at least to colonize but the usual time period is 1 month till fruiting

Yea, I used about 2cc's a peice. What do you mean spores and bags suck? Sure it may be more efficient to use a pf tek but this is so easy it's ridiculous. I guess im not very patient, im just excited and this is my first cultivation. Everybody starts somewhere.. and i don't appreciate being called a noob even though I am one.

Yeah, excitement is definitely a factor in the first grow.
I don't know much about the grow bags, but you're definitely going to have to be patient.

i wasnt calling you a noob look at my SN instead of typing noobieshroomie every time i type -noobie- at the end of every post i make
i would use alot more than 2-3 cc's for each bag if i were you i do wbs(wild bird seed) bags and i use 6-8 cc's per bag and they do fine
-noobie-

wbs is not a good substrate well it can be but i wouldnt use it as one i let my bags fully colonize then spawn them to coir/verm/horse manure,ect... as for the size heres a few pics
and i dont have a pic,but there about 5 inches wide
the bags pictured are from another grow i did but my WBS bags are about the same
where did you get yours from?
i have a feeling they are the same size remember the bags will expand as you add ingredients to them making them a bit bigger

Yeah my bags look about the same size. I got them from themadseason.com and I got my spore syringes from spores101.com, I got these vendors from the sponsors section in the forum here at the shroomery. Judging by your pics i'd say that the condensation forming in my bags is a good thing?

Well that's a relief. So because I am new to this, do you think it would be best to let the cakes fruit in the bag as apposed to casing them and possibly exposing them to contamination?

I bought five of them from themadseason.com I can really see myself becoming more and more involved with mycology. After a few successful cultivations I want to either start making my own bags using the giant 10lb bags or building my own fruiting chamber and incubator for casing tek's. Right now I have the bags incubating in my linen closet at 86 F, which I cleaned out fairly well using antibacterial spray. I am using an electric fan heater which I figured would hold the temperature and circulate the air at the same time. I was a little worried about the humidity so i stuck a mini-humidifier in there as well. I really wish I could put a lock on the door just so I would leave it alone for a while.lol.

if there jus colonizing theres no need to worry about humidity, and no need to worry about circulating air right now, I would take the heater and the humidifer out, unless it below like 68 in your house, you dont want them to get too hot.
I started off with mads bags, then started making my own, ive had great success with them, the musie in my sig, came from my growbags

Shit dude that's a really good point. Not to mention instead of using the a/c i put a bowl of ice next to fan to keep the energy bill down. So unless it's a cool summer (doubtful) i won't be able to grow without ripping a hole in my wallet.

yeah during the summer i can usually keep my electric down to under 100, or 125 at the most, by doing that, i could still get one of those lil portable ac units, and set near it

Hell yeah man. The economy is in the shitter, and I can guarentee you it's only gonna get worse until eventually it crumbles. One word geothermal. The earth has enough power to supply us with energy for several millenia. Why aren't we using this method? Everything is about money..
