Sure, I would add some vermiculite or something to it to 'fluff' it up and help maintain a good moisture balance.

Make sure you used spent coffee too, not fresh.  If you go to a coffee shop and ask they will usually give you all the used coffee grounds you could want for free. Coffee filters are fine too, no need to remove them.

The key to doing bulk easily is finding whatever is easily available and then just mixing it together. Any of them will work fine alone, but the more crap you mix in the better they will do.

not recommended.  coir is in a pet store.  i think walmart has a pet store now.  i have seen hay in pet stores, as long as you pasteurize it right.  but grains are sterilized so they contam easy.

I assume you mean half pint.  I'd recommend a 1:3 ratio.

So something like:
1 pint spent coffee
1/2 pint verm
1/2 pint crumbled pf cake

You can find coir in pet stores and some garden/nursery stores too.
In pet stores it's reptile bedding, in garden stores it's worm bedding / compost additive.

Last time I did this, I did 6 quarts worth of pf cake to 20 quarts of bulk sub (coir, manure, corn cob, potting soil, coffee mixture).

:-D

the simple answer is  NITROGEN

fresh coffee nitro content is to high, spent coffee or half strength coffee is just right.

in your pic,  did you notice that mushi is growing off the foil, not the cake.  definitely dunk that cake.  its searching for humidity/moisture.

if you drink it, just use your old grounds.  if not just soak sum new coffee to dilute it.  or like others have said, starbucks is sweet, I went there and they gave me enough coffee grounds for life. seriously I packed my deep freezer with bags of it all for free.

starbucks doesnt question what its used for, it comes labeled for garden uses..  they know its good for growing.

lotz of people ask for it.  its common for them to have it ready for you to load up and go.  I mean I couldnt take all they were trying to give me.

get it all off but the pins, and do it very carefully. i just did it and only lost maybe 6 pins (theres lots more).  I rinsed it under the tap carefully and dunked in a bag.

yeah well i mist about 2-3 times a day so i guess that should held up humidity pretty good. i have put 3 pf tek jars in a bag and those are growing great,i just fold the top and a paperclip on top. they work better than my FC right now

Haha nice. I usually mist and fan once or twice a day at the most, and my cakes are still going fine.  I noticed if I leave them for a full day, when I mist them they can start to spring up fast.
