8.27 x 4.53

Well, that changes things.

1)  Did you try staining any other features with Melzer's?
2)  What were the dimensions of the cap and stipe?
3)  Did you split the stipe to observe the trama?

The whole mushroom seems to be dextrinoid including the stem and cap trama.

2)  What were the dimensions of the cap and stipe?

The cap got up to 10 cm, stipe to 1.5 cm.

3)  Did you split the stipe to observe the trama?

Stipe trama 200x

Pleurocystidia abundant, mostly narrowly clavate, sometimes mucronate or capitate.  Some of the pleurocystidia are labeled as lecythiform in the images but I think a better descriptive term is capitate.

Excellent work and thanks for the answers.  The text in the photos is awesome.  I'll have to try that sometime.

Thats not what I used but it looks like a good one for the money.

Finally someone understands why I want a darkfield scope. Its def. worth the extra for darkfield capabilities. Plus it looks pretty damn cool.
