Hmm, this might get complicated.

Very vague subject here, but Im was thinking about how to tell if a aquaintence would like to be your friend and if a friend might be interested in being a little more. Flat out asking can be awkward and a misunderstanding can waste alot of time. I was never the greatest at this and Im just milling this over in my head (I took some meds to study and cant sleep now!  :crazy:)

As far as aquaintences go I think Im gonna try being blunt:  " Unless you slap me and yell 'How Dare You!'  Im going to be your friend."    Sort of take my social skills back to the middle school level.  :grin:

make your move, and read her body language, i'm sure she prob feels the same way, and if not, it may be a little ebarassing, but that's whay friends are for. if she does reject you, it won't screw things up if she's a real friend, she'll only be flattered

but i for one think you have a good shot, cause being freinds first is the way to go. invite her out to a meal or movie or something, like a date, and just go from there
a little alchole is fine for the first kiss, but make sure your stone sober for the first fuck, otherwise the relationship is doomed

Meh...just do what me and my current girlfriend/best friend did...Get really drunk, then say "hey...i dare you to kiss me".

That was pretty cool when that worked...
