coolmist inside/outside martha, your take?
    #9870855 - 02/26/09 04:41 PM (15 years, 24 days ago)

ive seen many setups with hoses going everywhichway and ive see setups with the humidifier on the bottom shelf.  It seems like just putting the bad boy in there on the bottom shelf would just be much more simple.  I know when you start gluing hoses to humidifiers the motor burns out.  so why all the hoses? works better with mist falling rather than blasting upwards? or just overall more stable humidity throughout?

Either way works.. The only thing with setting it in the greenhouse is that you loose space..  Where if you use tubing or PVC to hook it up from the outside you have all the tiers available..  If you do using tubing or PVC you want to make sure the size is the same as the outlet size which will mostly prevent static pressure from building up and fucking up the cool mist..  Also I don't glue my PVC together..

I started a thread a few days ago on a similar topic, my coolmist sits outside and I have two pvc connections going from it to the MARTHA, well I was getting static pressure and water would leak out of my coolmist.

I solved the problem by replacing the 1 inch house (which with its thickness come out to be only half an inch) with 1" PVC and only using one pipe going out of my coolmist and into the MARHTA.

RR suggested putting the coolmist inside (if you have room) and cutting slits in the greenhouse for FAE. I'm doing to do this with my second MARTHA.

Personally I have been using variations of the coolmist outside the Martha for a couple of years now. And my first coolmist burnt out on me in September.

Play.Learn.

Peace,

I.

In my greenhouse the cool mist is the ultra sonic as well LoL.. I purchased a fogger from pet smart and just dropped it into the cool mist.. If you look you can see the wire for it going into the cool mist under the black tape, So my cool mist is now a cool mist and ultrasonic fogger in one..

Forgot to mention the answer to your question ** The major reason people do it is for Fresh Air Exchange, which is vital and for space. If the coolmist sits outside it brings fresh air in to the Martha/Greenhouse.

I have a separate ultrasonic that I got for 20$ and it's fairly small I only started using it in the last 6 months to see what the hype was all about. I don't really need it...but it looks pretty

Here's a pic, the ultrasonic is on top shelf and the coolmist is on bottom, the only change is that it now has one PVC.

Fogger was orignally 49.99 got it on sale for 29.99.. I use the coolmist 24/7 and have the fogger on a 15 minutes on and 45 minute off cycle.

I am currently building a expansion tank for the cool mist, that way it will have about 4 gallons of water to use before it runs out..

Damion~

My timings are the same. I need to build an expansion tank as well are you using any certain tek? I know there is one I have saved...it's pretty straight forward but it involves cuttings/drilling, if so then be it but I am curious if there is anything else.

Thanks,

I.

Here is some pictures of my expansion tub or tank.. Total cost about 8-10 bucks..  Supplies small tub 5 bucks 2 1/2 inch couplings 19 cents each and 2 tub straps 59 cents each and a piece of tubing I had laying around..

The couplings were threaded on one end and had ribs for vinyl tubing on the other, and they were 1/2 inch to 1/2 inch..  Took me about 10 minutes to actually build it but had to wait 24 hours for the silicone to dry..
