What's a "COLDSHOCK"?

At some websites where you can buy psilocybe cubensis syringes it says something about ColdShocks and if it is necessary or not.

So what exactly is a Coldshock, how do you do it and why?

I believe we cold shock certain kinds of myceliem so it will pin. However, cubensis is an exception to that if I am not mistaken and cold shocking cubensis myceliem will just slow your growth down since it does not need a temperature drop to pin.

The mycellium pins and eventually fruits when it has good fresh air exchange, light for 12 hours a day, and a drop in temperature. Cold-shocking is a method of triggering the mycellium to pin by dropping the temperature. But as stated above, this is unnecessary for cubensis.

if someone swears that cold shocking works, they probably just dunk the substrates in cold water or in the fridge. It is the dunking that helps, not the cold temps. Cubes, wont pin well if at all under 40 deg. F temps so cold shocking has no benefit whatsoever. You can still *dunk* the cakes in cold water, and the dunking itself benefits the flush very well.

If you just take some cakes and put them in a fridge to "cold shock" them, its not going to do anything but take more time for it to warm back up so it can start pinning.
