I need HELP
    #979187 - 10/21/02 06:37 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

Hi Everyone,
I'm in some trouble! I have 5 folders that aren't being recognized by Windows XP Pro.

I can see them in a DOS prompt but when I go to open them I get "file is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

One: its not a file, its an entire folder that full of VERY improtant files.

Two: I can't see them in Windows Explorer

The size of the folders can be seen so I know that the information inside the folder is still there "hopefully".

If you have any idea on how I might be able to fix this I would be EXTREMELY GREATFUL.

/me pulls her hair out because if she lost when she can see but can't access.... she will cry!

Thank You!
Lana

Here are two things to try:

1. This probably won't fix your issue but try setting your permissions on one of the folders from the command line. In my example I'm using "test" as one of the offending folders and "lana" as your xp user name.. change these as appropriate for your situation.

c:\cacls test /E /P lana:F

2. You probably will have to use a utility that specifically repairs/recovers damaged files and folders. I've had very good luck using Winternal's Disk Commander. Look for it with one of the filesharing programs like Kazaa lite.
If you can't find it PM me and maybe I can find something for you.
