innoculating jars week after cooked
    #986629 - 10/23/02 01:01 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I pressured cooked some jars four days ago and after letting them sit and cool I went to find my spore syringe and somebody stole it. Now I got a syringe off a friend and I'm wondering If my jars after sitting in a closet with the tinfoil still on are good tol inoculate, or do they have to be cooked again?

If you did it now, you'd run a much greater risk of contams.
If you resterilized the water content would be off.

Your best bet is to make more substrate and reload the jars and resterilize.

If you see no mold already growing in the jars, they were most likely sterilized good, and can still be used. No need to start over. When I first started, I would let my jars sit a few days of so on purpose, to see if any mold or bacteria grows, since they grow awfully fast.

Your fine, dude inoculated jars that sat for a month without any contam problem. The one thing you might find is that it will colonize a little slower the longer you wait to inoculate

If you have a lot of extra spores then go for it, but you would be greatly increasing your chances of contamination.
