No. I feel comfortable because I don't believe in 'mumbo jumbo.' I think post-death will be the same as pre-birth: nothing, because there's no 'I' to experience anything. I'm cool with that.

Not really.
As I grow older, however, I become more conscious of what would be left behind if I was to die. Love-you's and goodbyes and see-ya-later's mean a lot more than they used to, etc.
I might not be the happiest person on earth, but I try and enjoy what life's got while I've got it.

No point in being frightened by it because it is inevitable. Being scared of death won't change death, so why live in fear?

I'm fascinated by what may or may not come to be once death is experienced. The whole 'afterelife' question cannot be answered by anyone alive on this planet - so to me - it's like "the next big adventure".
Scared of it? No.
Prefer to put it off for as long as possible so I can fully enjoy my current "big adventure"? yes.

i don't fear death itself, its just a fear of the unknown... i don't want an agonizing death of course that would be an unpleasant moment. It just seems paranoid to worry about your own death, unless your in a mortal condition, and if you felt no fear of death in a healthy state you might be not so hurt by knowledge that you may die soon if that happened...

We're all terrified of death IMO. Anyone who says otherwise should be made to jump off a plane without a parachute and see whether they are afraid of it then. The situation you are in at the moment is not so different just slower. Inevitability doesn't make anything less scary. If it was inevitable that you were going to get tortured would you be any less scared?
Check out Terror Management Theory and the movie Flight from Death for more info.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen written on the shroomery.
Being scared of death, and hoping to avoid it for as long as possible, are not the same thing

Every one is scared of death no matter what they may tell you. We all have different coping mechanisms however to deal with the anxiety and some work much better than others. You need to find something that works at least somewhat for yourself.
I'm also terrified on some level of death. Mostly people who say they aren't are talking from a feeling of safty because they aren't facing immanent demise or danger.

They are correct IMO. It's not dying people fear as much as ceasing to exist and most of this fear is unconscious but shows up in various actions and attitudes. Religious belief in an afterlife is a good example as is the new age belief in reincarnation and such. There is no evidence to support these beliefs and yet if you challenge them you can see how people react. This will tell you how they are feeling rather then what they say they feel. There are lots and lots of ways to hide our death anxiety from ourselves. Being a workaholic is another good one. Distraction is a very good coping mechanism.

Anyone that claims to not be afraid of death, hasn't been confronted with it IMO. I know because I used to be like that. One real medical scare, one accident...you'll know what it's like to be there.
It will make you appreciate life a lot, but I call BS on anyone that isn't afraid of death, all that says to me is you haven't seen it yet. You are a living organism, you will panic when your life is threatened and be very afraid suddenly.
Not afraid of dying = words of the healthy, or those that never experienced it. Being there is a very different reality from the healthy one.

Well logically that makes perfect sense. However you may have noticed that while occasionally a human may think logically we are mostly emotional and act consciously and unconsciously on emotions. Especially fear.

Although it's not the same thing, I remember once having a dream where I was driving a kart really fast. Suddenly, the road ends and I find myself in the air, looking at the fields under my feets, with cows looking like ants. The feeling was so intense! Realizing that "holy shit, it's the end, I'm going to die!" and actually knowing that there is no way out was incredibly terryfing and at the same time very exciting. I can hardly describe how I felt.
Then I woke up.
I almost died a few times before, but I never had the time to realize that I was maybe going to die. I'm still wondering of how accurate a dream is though.

I'm not scared of death, but I'm certainly afraid of old age.

I have some fear associated with death but i've accepted it's going to happen and i'm ok with it, whenever that may be.
Like said it is the ceasing to exist that scares people the most, i think. But when i reach the point where i die there's a strong possibility i won't be conscious on any level so i don't worry about it. If there is something after this life then great. I'm not going to waste any time obsessing about it, i'd rather not live in fear.
I have to face impending death on a daily basis, i look after my mom who has emphysema and i don't think she's gonna be around much longer, 5 years maybe but she's already very noticeably ill.
I have had to develop a healthy attitude towards death.

There is no evidence supporting the belief that there is nothing after death either.
