I thought the pics were cool.
I've read that the Maori Kava / Macropiper has some very strong strains, but I've never tried any.
I'd like to locate some Pituri but haven't been able to, yet.

Yup, i live in NZ..
Its pretty cool and rare. Alot of these place are gone now, or people simply dont know they exist - they drive right on past without even thinking what may be there.
It is a great place to live, the strange thing is its actually in a residential area. Its my hidden world haha, im one of the few people that know how to get there or even that it exists.
It is very awesome. Even has sandy white beaches, but again only a few people know.

Beautiful pictures scruffy, I know of many places like that! Very interesting, I have never heard of this but I have grown many nice specimens of Laurelia novae-zelandiae in the past, it is one of my favourite NZ trees, there are only two species in the genus and interestingly the other is found in Chile and Peru. Your fern is a Nephrolepis species, "Tuber ladder fern", there is one native unnamed species, the other one is introduced, they produce the small tubers in your photo. I reckon the tree you found was Weinmannia racemosa (Kamahi. I have some very large Macropiper excelsum (Kawakawa), next time I go bush I'll make some pics. A clue to finding Pukatea is the buttressed trunk. Good luck, I hope you can find it inski.

Hmm, It seems Laurelia sempervirens contains a fair amount of safrole and is used as a medicine in Chile and Peru. inski.

You are welcome! I suspect the tubers on that fern are edible. Next time I see Pukatea I will chew some foliage, I would like to see how good a painkiller it makes! Oh, your palm is Rhopalostylis sapida, Nikau. The place in your images looks like very good habitat for Weraroa novaezelandiae inski.

Heh, i never understood what it is about walking barefoot that makes me feel so good. I just like being in contact with the ground , i guess (all my friends think i'm crazy, and the parent's dont let me put my feet on the couch any more ) So long as you take your worm pills you should be sweet :P that being said, i've only been bitten whilst wearing footwear, and then it was only a centipede (ouch).
But that's a great habbitat man! We've got bushland here, but nothing as beautiful as that, i'm guessing you leave pretty much coastally? Best of luck in future hunts! You've inspired me to look up all the cool entheogens around where i live, but i've been wanting to go Maidenii hunting for some time too.

Hey Scruffy, have you got any Maori blood? I always kind of thought you did for some reason. Most of my family come from or live in Nelson and I love it over there. Its really another world driving through some of those mountains in the south.
The Pukatea sounds and looks very cool. I'd love some seed if you end up finding some.
Hopefully I be able to get back over there during the year. In Mushroom season of course.
