You can make the images that don't show for you upon first loading a page show up, it isn't magic lmao.

I edited: I wasn't trying to be mean but if you think I was then I am sorry. I just thought it was funny you've been a part of an internet-based community for a long time and in the funnies thread you couldn't get pictures to load so "haha you're so ancient."

I've wondered if it would be possible for someone to do that. If so, they could put a unique image (even just a transparent single pixel) in a PM and get someone's IP address.

Go to Account (link under welcome)
Bottom of page where it says "Display preferences, number of shown topics, languages, colors..." click the edit link to the right.

3/4 way down the options find the setting;
"Use enhanced image viewer?"

Set to no (default is yes which uses the proxy described by psi)

P.s. Baby_hitler I would assume the proxy server enhanced image viewer applies to PMs too, maybe psi knows. Either way vpn protects you.

The setting I was thinking of about is "How to handle offsite resources (images and embedded media)?" Same page though. "Retrieve offsite resources through a web-based proxy" uses the proxy and "Show all offsite resources" does not.
