Need some suggestions
    #9853950 - 02/24/09 12:45 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

I love growing things. I've grown mushrooms, mj and a few minor things. I'm trying to find something that I would enjoy growing. My all-time favorite would have to be growing mj. I love how it looks and smells while it's growing and I also love that once it's finished you have something that you could use. I guess you could say i'm looking to grow some ethnos/herbs that can be used. Whether it be a relaxation type herb or anything. Also something that I would enjoy growing. Anyone got any suggestions?

Growing khat seems like it would be worth it. The only problem is that you have to chew fresh khat leaves or the cathinone will break down.

I thought about salvia, but it is also getting ready to be illegal here. Trying not to mess with anything illegal right now. it would be badass to have a lemon tree haha, but I doubt the weather here would permit it. Never really read into khat.

Cathinone is illegal so I guess khat isn't an option then.

Basil is fun to grow and you can make pesto when you have a ton of it.
Someday I want to grow some tobacco and cure it myself.
Grow lettuce and squash or something, I don't know, let us know what you decide on.

Herbs are always fun to grow, and quite useful as well.

Chamomile is easy to grow, and makes an excellent tea.
Mints of all types are always useful.
Medicinal herbs are a good idea as well.

You can never go wrong with tobacco; it grows rather quickly and there is nothing as pleasurable as growing, harvesting and curing you own tobacco.

If you enjoy fragrant plants, pick up a Meyer lemon tree. They take up little space and have the most fragrant blossoms. Not to mention the large, sweet lemons they produce

The lemon tree sounds like a good idea after I move. I just have to find out if they will grow iny zone. I also thought about growing some of those "taste tripping" berries. Haven't read into it much yet. I'm mainly looking for inside projects for now.

poppies, poppies, poppies. Right now is prime time. Read the opium poppy sticky at the top of the thread list. Good stuff.

You really need some active cacti in your life :yesnod:

Augh! You beat me to it! I was going to say poppies. But then again, OP said he doesn't want to grow anything illegal, and poppies are scheduled in the United States. Police generally let it slide, but still, that one is iffy.

From some minor research they're easy to grow, and every pod can produce about 100mg of opium under pristine conditions. Sounds like a good yield (if you're not interested in just growing stuff to look at, like I am).

I definitely plan on trying my hand at cacti. Not sure exactly which yet though, still reading about it. I am going to have some peppers and things as well, but i'm waiting until I move.

I am going to plant some Datura inoxia out in front of my house this spring!

I got the idea from a neighbor.

I had been looking all over for Datura growing wild, and I just so happened to be taking a walk in my neighborhood one morning when I noticed hundreds of trumpets open all around my neighbor's yard!  I admired them for a moment before I cut a few trumpets and seed pods.

They are beautiful in the evening and into the morning.

My neighbor also had a few brugmansia trees growing in front of a windowless wall.  Stunning!

I am also planting a ton of heavenly blue morning glories along my back fence.
