Rubin "Hurricane" Carter
    #978743 - 10/21/02 03:03 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

After polling a group of my friends as to whether Rubin Carter was guilty or not, I was suprised at how overwhelming the resounding "no" was. Moreover, the vast majority based there entire opinion entirely on the movie, which as anyone with any knowledge on this topic whatsoever knows, blatantly disgregards the truth in more than one instance.

I for one believe that the Hurricane was guilty. Out of curiousity, what are your people's stances on this controversial topic?

You're kidding right? I doubt that many care one way or another.

I guess it did happen a long time ago, and public interest has dwindled since...
What suprised me more than anything is the amount of people that draw their opinions only from what the media hands them, barely even thinking at all.
I was also curious as to why the actual facts would have been altered in the film, but if nobody cares, then so be it.

What surprises me is that you're surprised by that.

We have a left wing media, who reports only what they wish to, and in a very biased manner.

Combine that with a congress which for years was controlled by the left, with far too much help from Republicans In Name Only, and we wind up with a bunch of fools for citizens.

Rono, did you not read my entire post or did you just stop where I said left wing? In case you missed it I did put some of the blame on Republicans. Go back and read it again. Maybe you'll see it this time.

I read it just fine...You think everything is the left wings fault..or "Republicans in name only". Or did I miss something? You don't like Liberals, and you Don't like Republicans that are Left Wing...does that pretty much sum it up?

Nope. Never said that at all. I do feel the marjority is fucked up because of the left. Nowhere near all though.

And I don't dislike liberals. I dislike what they have done to this country and how they have turned the US into a country of people who look to the government to solve all their problems.

"Rubin Carter was a small-time street thug in Paterson, New Jersey,
in the 1950s and 1960s. He had a long record of arrests for assault,
theft, and robbery. His first criminal conviction was at age 11, after
he stabbed a man and stole his wallet and wristwatch. For that he was
sent to reform school, but the experience didn't reform him. He
continued with assaults and robberies after he was released. Later he
spent four years in the penitentiary for a series of muggings."

Draw your own conclusions
