valarien root was used buy medicine men of native americain tribes. a medicine man that i had visited when i wsa young gave me some to help me sleep it is either chewed or made in a tea mostly tea though. it is quite bitter but it makes me feel more earthy and helps me relax after. it helps relax tense muscles too. i have expereince with skullcap but only the wild stuff it grows in marshy areas and has pretty little flowers. looks similiar to wild mint and often grows side buy side. i like to pic both and make tea from them to help me sleep. pretty bitter stuff but it works very well for me just to give me that littel edge to go to sleep. wild lettuce i dont know how common it is in the wild but my mom used to grow the stuff and i used to always munch on it. i forget why i did i was young but for some reason i liked it and found out when i was older it had opium type things in it. also on that note try opium. all of those herbs can be found in health food stores.

thanks Louis_Cyphre for the valerian root comment...ill defenately do some searching.  also thanks to "the man" for the info you provided.  this thread id giving me alot to think about:)  i appreciate it all :grin:
