Have sitters there if possible, that or other people on shrooms to reasure you that you are not GoInG MaD! Also do it somewhere comfortable and warm.

Ok, you obviously don't know what to expect..Its *NOTHING* like weed. When they say trip.. they mean you take trips. You pack your bags and you don't know when you're coming back. I agree with everyone else. Take a small dose your first time. Expect to trip, maybe you won't and you'll just have really cool visuals.

I'd also suggest frying/tripping(more tripping) in a comfortable enviroment. Around people you like, etc. Don't trip around someone you're mad at! *EVERYTIME* I have done this its turned a trip bad.

yo, what's up... all i gotta say is if dude wants to drop an 8th, by all means do it... I've eaten shrooms 16 times, 12 of those times were on an 8th, i consider it a standard dose. A 16th will get you rollin' pretty good, but there is nothing in this world like peaking on an 8th. only problem is that its too damn expensive... my most heroic dose has been an 8and a half. 8th 1/2.
now that was a tight trip... just thought you'd like to know...

Yo, dude to answer a different part of your original post, I'd stay away from TV.

Music is really cool, and well, is basically a great idea. TV is ok if you want to try to play some video games or if you have a movie to watch or something, but regular TV can really put a negative spin on the trip as you realize how utterly pathetic the media is, and how everyone buys into it.

Anyway, to agree with everyone else I think the 1/2 of the 1/8 is a good idea. I read tons before I tripped for the first time, and it really helped me know what to expect. However, there is no way to be ready, it was more just as things happened I recognized things from what I had read. But there is nothing else like tripping, and experience is the best teacher. There's no need to trip on an 1/8 the first time, just for caution's sake. Take a dose that you'll most likely be comfortable with, cause you can always do higher dosages later.

Oh yeah, another thing. The first time i tripped i had a pretty light trip (pretty tame level 2), and had a GREAT time. The second time I accidentally had way too much, and had a bordering on level 4 experience. I could barely keep it together and half-way flipped out a whole bunch. I recovered greatly though when the trip wore off, but it still took about a week before I felt 'right'. Since then I've had tons of trips, many of them level 2, and mild to mid level 3's. I am slowly building up, and with the experience i've gained at the lower levels, when i step up to the next level it is not hard to handle. However, I know personally that jumping into those high levels can be a pretty bad idea (whether you planned it or not).

I have to agree with another_dimension that TV is not a good idea..
A movie could be a good idea and video-games to...
But i do not really like spending time in front on the TV while tripping..
Music is a must though..

First trip with an eighth can be bad / good. I did a whole eighth on my first time out. I was also in a bad situation though. I was entirely alone, in the dark, with no music. I ended up vomitting on myself, and then being dropped from my body and into Hell / Chaos. I awoke the next day disbelieving the next day but the vomit stuck in my hair proved otherwise. The memories were all repressed and months later bits and pieces still come back... HOWEVER. This did show me the awesome power of the shroom / psychedellics in general and I have not had a bad trip since, yet I am still to eat the mushroom. Soon I will, though.

Ive never had a "really" bad tripp..
Ive had anxiety for a couple of times but that was due to my setting and not my set...
But...the first time you dont know what your tolerance level is..
I mean, if the shrooms are really potent hes gonna tripp-balls..
And if he doesnt have a sitter and only a person that he doesnt want too tell that he has ingested shrooms he could have a really bad time....
The primary things to think about is always set and setting...
But youll never know how you will respond to the shrooms before the first time...

Man, some of you wrote some pretty scary stuff. My very very first psychedelic experience was 10 baby hawaiin woodrose seeds (LSA) which made me vomit for like ten minutes and I really thought I was gonna die. This is when I still lived w/ my parents, and they were in the next room..However after just a few minutes of mental agony I got myself in complete control and had cool visuals, and loved it! But then a year later I got to try shrooms, I went straight to 3.5g's and had an AWESOME time. In my opinion, I think some of you made it sound like a bad trip is common. I have tripped 100's of times, and, for me, I think it just takes a strong mind. I mean definatley only take 1/2 an 1/8th you're first time, but I'm just saying that even if you did take the whole 1/8th, if you truly EXPECT to have a great time, I highly doubt you would have anything less than an awe inspiring experience, be it spiritually, or just hella fun!

hey greatone, i agree with everyone else on this one. trust me man before the first time i shroomed, I read all the FAQs on this page like 60,000 damn times and i totally thought i was prepared, 100% sure. i was wrong, and i only ate half an eigth and smoked some bud. my advice, eat half an eigth and don't smoke weed. i was having a blast off half eigth, seeing some nice visuals, but that weed propelled it into a level 3 trip which was too much. i was being literally flooded with imagery, it felt like i was floating around in my brain and i couldn't just tell myself that it was the drugs and it would all go away. you don't understand the concept of loss of reality yet, which means you forget a lot of the concepts of normal reality. therefore, thinking of this "drug" you took doesn't really make any sense. anyway, bottom line - stick with half an eigth, you'll have a blast. stay away from weed when yer peaking too. ?have fun!

ps - hey lilskit that one about the blood and shit everywhere was fuckin scary as shit man. i didn't even wanna think about that. good description!

yea thats cool. just remember what i said about my trip. if you are already gettin good visuals (i saw my floor breathing with vine patterns coming out of it) and you are feelin good you may not wanna push it. coz I just thought since i was having such a good trip that smokin weed would increase the euphoria when it infact ruined my trip. so if you're not trippin and your dissapointed yea take a few tokes and see how you feel.
