Light on a casing during incubation?
    #983118 - 10/22/02 01:49 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

What would happen if you cased a few cakes and put the casing in your terrarium? In this hypothetical situation you would have started a 2/22 light to dark cycle? Will light on a casing the day it has been cased be damaging? thanks

The only reason to use a light during incubation is for heat. The light itself will probably hinder mycelium growth.

Keep in the dark until at mininmum 30% of casing has been covered in mycelium , then expose to light , lower temps etc.... (or when all vallies have myc in them )
Many say wait till 70-80% covered , we waited till 90% . TMC makes mention of 20% , IMHO , if you are in a rush do it at 30 .
The reason for not exposing to light to soon , is so that you do not cause to premature of a pin set , reason... less pin set smaller flush .
Good Luck
