I'm wondering if the blue bruising and the correct spore print color is enough information to correctly identify a psilocybe mushroom from the poisonous kinds such as amanita. my location is near Atlanta so i know I'm mainly going to be looking for the weilii. also if there's any other characteristic thats easily identifiable, please let me know too. thanks if i do find some ill have plenty of pictures and info on habitat and shit

If it bruises blue, and has purple-brown spores then it's an active Psilocybe.
I would still post pics here before consuming them.

Be sure the bruising is indeed blue, not brown or dark orange/red. Sometimes it looks like a shade of purple. That combined with dark purple/blackish spores is a sure bet. It's certainly helpful to know the other features as well, best take a gander at the photos posted here on the forums to get a good sense.

Yeah. Because there ISN'T antidote for mushroom poisoning. You either live or die. I won't bet my life on a 50/50 chance. Proper identification is critical.

One of the problems is that people with little to no experience in identifying mushrooms, but who are determined to find active mushrooms, often project into their findings what they want to see, so a brown or black spore print all of a sudden becomes a "purplish" one and whatever bruising becomes a "blue-greenish" one. For that reason you should still show your findings to someone who knows what they are talking about until you've found and identified correctly what you are looking for at least several times. If you intend to eat mushrooms it's always "better safe than sorry". Organ failure is not a pleasant thing.

Yes. It's called confirmation bias. I think I've seen every color of the rainbow in this forum called "blue bruising." Sometimes we see what we want to see whether it's there or not. Misidentification is a bad trip.
