Sterile forever?
    #981842 - 10/22/02 04:49 AM (15 years, 5 months ago)

I'm trying to save some cambos that i thought were long gone.Well,my throw away pile started to fruit and the only thing in that pile were cambo mistakes. Its starting to get cold so i picked the last three. After i started to clean them up i saw that they had no spores. Will the cloned ones also be sterile?

as a clone is an exact genetic copy i'd say yes, but everything has a twist. wait for a pro to answer. I'd say that if you really wanted, you could continue to clone for a while

I doubt that there are any environmental conditions that made your cambodians go sterile. If that is indeed the case then the fact that a clone is a genetically identical copy of the parent means that, yes, you would be perpetuating a sterile genetic stock.
