Atom Heart Momma
Animals-ive never heard ANYTHING about it haveing ANYTHING to do with "animalfarm", its not true, it couldnt be. a good album for floyd fans.
The Wall-this is the album that serial killers listen too before they go on a killing spree. This album sends people to the looney-bin.
Meddle-its got Echoes on it, so its pretty good.

I'm sorry but I have to go with Meddle! It's a little trippy but you can really tell how Floyd puts the music back into rock.

GGHEART1 may have a point about The Wall. It does have the ability to get inside your head and wake up thoughts you never thought you had. But isn't that the fun of it all!

Since I have more time than I know what to do with, I figured I'd tally the Pink Floyd Poll started by INBETWEEN. The time is now 12:35 AM on Tuesday, November 16th.

Dark Side 8
The Wall 6
Wish You Were Here 5
Animals 5
"It's ALL good" 4 (kinda tricky to calculate)
Meddle 3
Atom Heart Mother 2
Obscured By Clouds 2
A Saucerful of Secrets 1
Momentary Lapse of Reason 1
Piper at the Gates of Dawn 1
Ummagumma 1

I hope I'm accurate!

Why is The Division Bell so often overlooked? In all of the discussions I've had about Floyd (on the web or irl) this album is almost never mentioned. Perhaps because of the lack of Roger? It is by no means my favorite Floyd album but there is definately some real good stuff in there. Anyone who hasn't heard this should definately check it out.

By 1977 England was in the throes of punk, a musical revolution that held hugely successful "dinosaur" rock groups in contempt. So ANIMALS, the album Pink Floyd released that year, found the band as musically stripped down as they'd ever been. The overabundance of soundscapes, ethereal synths and lush textures of the past gave way to a leaner, more guitar-driven Floyd. Yet thematically, Waters and co. still reached for the sky. Inspired in part by George Orwell's classic novel, "Animal Farm," ANIMALS divides humans into three categories--dogs, pigs and sheep--and features each classification in song. The dogs are merciless opportunists, grasping for success at any price; the pigs are pathetic, self-righteous tyrants; and the sheep are the mindless followers, being used by the dogs and pigs.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!

PINK FLOYD'S MEDDLE TRACK # 6 "ECHOES" IS THE TRIPPIEST SONG THEY HAVE EVER WRITTEN, AND RECORDED....ITS 23 MINUTES LONG AND TAKES YOU PLACES EVEN WHEN YOU AREN'T SHROOMIN'.......

IF I WERE TO SUGGEST AN ENTIRE FLOYD ALBUM I WOULD HAVE TO SAY "WISH YOU WERE HERE" IS THE TRIPPIEST ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH...

EVERYONE SAYS "DARK SIDE, OR THE WALL" LISTEN TO THEIR OTHER ALBUMS AND YOU WILL SEE THERE IS A WHOLE LOT MORE TO FLOYD THAN YOU THINK...

the gnome bone is connected to the.....

I agree that the "The Division Bell" is way overlooked, another one that is not given enough credit is "The Final Cut" this is one of the best in my opinion. they all seriously kick ass.

I'm a massive Floyd fan. I have 24 floyd cds (including bootlegs). If your a first timer and your thinking about getting into Floyd, I would probably recommend The Wall. If you just want to get some trippy Floyd to enjoy though, I recommend Piper At The Gates of Dawn, or/and Meddle or/and Obscured by Clouds.

One more thing though: for all you floyd fans out there, i really really strongly recommend listening to Several Small Species Of Fury Animals Grooving Together with A Pic In A Cave (or whatever that flippin' title is) from Ummagumma. I listened to it on one hit of acid and headphones and my mind was blown.

Of yeah, and some of you Floyd fans may not be aware of the Floyd tribute CD - Saucerful of Pink. It's a double cd, and all the songs are really cool and different eletronica renditions of the classics. At first i didn't like the CD much, now i think it's the bomb.

Pink Floyd is the best musical group ever. (that's what i think anyway)

the pink floyd dark side of the moon synch with wizard of oz is pretty trippy in and of itself. to do it you start the CD after the second lion roar(MGM lion, in beginning before the credits, three roars total). the way to check if you have done it right is during the first part of the movie, dorothy is walking on top of the fence next to the pig pen, she falls in and as soon as she hits the ground there is a cymbal crash and the mood of the music changes. theres another check a little earlier but i forget where it is. if you stick your CD player on repeat, the album will supposedly synch to the second half of the movie as well(i didnt know that when i did it and only watched it to the first half but a friend of mine says it works).

happy trails

Shit... whats great about PF is thier CD's are so unique that you can like them all, and still get a new thing from each. One CD that I haven't really seen anyone talk about is ANIMALS... it grows on you. Very tripped out lyrics. And nice long tunes that are good for smokin and trippin too.

How odd. I just got done listening to piper at the gates of dawn for the first time when i laid eyes on this thread. For me, you really cant say anything about pink floyd from one of their albums.. they change so drastically from piper to the final cut that you cant even tell theyre' the same and on some songs. Syd barret and roger waters are genius. i refuse to listen to anything they have done after 85 when roger left the band.
But everything from the 60's till then is amazing. each album can flow so well. saucerful of secrets and atom heart mother are 2 good albums to trip to if you like their earlier stuff. darkside and the wall are good for those of you who prefer the later stuff. i also highly recomend wish you were here on repeat.. for at least 3 hours..

woo hoo. 100 posts and the 100th is PF related..

Though not their best song i think the song bike would be the coolest to listen to tripping. its gotta be the straight up weirdest most ecleptic (sp?) song floyd ever did. you can really see the maddness syd must have gone through in those years. if you listen to alot of post-barret floyd you will get a kick out of pipers at the gates of dawn. especially "the gnome" and "bike". In fact i think ill put on that album now. either way you should buy the floyd box set to start off and keep collecting from there on.
