If it's even possible to make a robot that's fully self-aware and has as much of a limitless consciousness as us, it would seem logical that we'd limit it's thoughts so it couldn't rebel against it's creators.

For a robot to rebel against it's owners, wouldn't it need to feel emotion? I can't even imagine the amount of work that would take, and I don't see why humans would ever want to do that.

But hey, in 500-1000 years, who knows what's possible. That's if we haven't destroyed ourselves.

Maybe they would want some to be lover models.  Like in the movie AI.  And I think they'd want to do that cause it's like one of the holy grails of science to create an artifical being as capable as us.

We are not far away from it.  Theres been amazing advances in all the fields required to make androids.  Soon enough they will come together and build the first fully functioning model.

wow I didn't know they were that ahead, I was still thinking they were at that stage with that white/square looking thing that could barely climb stairs.

Do you think if they got as advanced as they were in the animatrix they might rebel agianst humans?

cause obviously their main purpose would be put in the workforce or be people's slaves without any freedoms.  Soldiers too, didn't we see a post a while back about military making androids for combat?

Its possible if we built them with the ability to learn and alter themselves.

Whats interesting is that on the other side of research they are using biological brains in gel connected to computers to move robots around.  If I remember rightly they were using a flys brain to move a small robot around a maze.  In the future it may be that we use biological and electrical systems to build cyborgs.

Imagine a cyborg dog that you could install a small biological brain that gave it the personality of a real dog.  No doubt these will one day become as popular as real pets with the advantage that they don't shit everywhere!

They also tried the reverse of controlling the fly by sending electrical impulses to its brain to tell it what to do.

Its really sci-fi stuff thats coming to reality - but thats what we do with technological ideas.  Stuff starts as ideas in movies etc and we then make these things a reality.

You think the movie American Pyscho was fucking nutso, read the book by Bret Easton Ellis I think his name is. Ridiculously more graphic and brutal.

I never guess. It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.

Oh, we egocentric human beings.

We are not powerful enough to destroy all human life. It would take such an amazing long shot to actually eradicate ALL of mankind. And even if we did, the earth would have to be completely obliterated.

She would never allow that to happen;

Life will always soldier on.
