ID Maybe?
    #9795194 - 02/14/09 11:34 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

I wasn't sure if this is the right place to put this or not...apologies if I'm wrong.

A few months back, I got a syringe from a friend labeled "P. Menace". I looked up a bunch of pictures of P. Menace fruiting, and NONE of them look like my P. Menace. Mine grew really strange. Tiny caps that didn't like to open much, and they grew really tall too.

Is there any way to determine between strains of cubes? This doesn't look like any cube I've ever grown before either. Grown on BRF and verm, spawned to coir.

Thanks for any input.

Edit: I know it looks like I just picked them because I was being impatient, but they were like that for ~3 days. They just don't flatten.

They could be Menace. Can you post a pic looking at the caps from the top. The way they look probably has to do with growing conditions. Menaces' wavy caps become more apparent on later flushes. Is this the first flush?

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

That was my first assumption as well. But all the other strains I was growing at the same time did fine. I had Koh Samui and Keepers Creeper in the same terrarium and they grew up just right.  :greenshroom:

Yes.  Most of the differences are morphological, that is how they look.  Although, according to Stamets, other differences are noticeable.

Amazonian: Medium to large mushrooms on rye grain, thick whitish stems; tenaciously attached to the casing.
Ecudorian: Medium sized mushrooms on rye grain; hemispheric caps; abundant primordia former; high yielding on compost; thin whitish stems; easily picked.
Matias Romero: Medium to large mushrooms on rye grain; early fruiter; thick whitish stems and tenaciously attached to the casing.
Misantla:  Medium sized mushrooms on rye grain; thin yellowish stem; tall standing and easily picked.
Palenque: Large mushrooms on rye grain, high yielding; and easily picked.
