well, i'll probably keep eating 6-8/day, then
and for those of you who like egg whites raw... i don't even like them to be slimy/undercooked when i cook them; yolks are awesome raw, though

I saw another article stating that only ~51% of the protein is usable in raw eggs, whereas 95% is usable in cooked eggs. I can't find it again, but I found it on the Sherdog forums under either the Conditioning or Diet forum.
Either way, eating raw eggs is silly.

call it whatever you want. people have been eating raw eggs for a long time with plenty of good results.
ive been eating them raw regularly for years.
i dont know if theres any truth to it, but i read somewhere a while back that eating too many cooked eggs on a regular basis can cause an allergy to eggs. cant remember where i read it though.

i just did a quick skim of that article, ill read it more in depth later, as i have some things to do.
but i would like to see more information on it than ONE case study with 5 test subjects. far from conclusive.
and then even assuming that it is true that cooked eggs offer more protein, then its a double edged sword. what would you prefer, 50% of the available protein and 100% of all the vitamins and minerals, or vise versa?? because either way you cannot have 100% of the egg.
i would rather keep the yolk in tact raw and get everything out of it than more protein. in most of our diets, protein isnt the problem, its the lack of vitamins and minerals.

I'd rather eat cooked eggs than raw eggs on taste and texture alone. The increased protein is just a bonus.

That's why I blend the eggs in with some milk.
I was reading a bodybuilders forum thread, and they pretty much said the same thing about protein availability. One guy suggested that the yokes be eaten raw, and the whites, cooked and that way you get most of the nutrients and the protein.

Dude if you like eating raw eggs, then that is great, eat all the raw eggs you can find. I personally think it is silly, but if you like it then go for it.

exactly.
i love raw eggs, I think they are delicious. as long as they are farm fresh and raised naturally, allowed to graze and whatnot.
I'd rather not be able to absorb some of the protein than, like left said, lose the vitamins and minerals and cause the fat and cholesterol in the eggs to become toxic by cooking.

I may have to look into this raw egg eating thing. I crave eggs from time to time real bad, but IDK, eating a raw egg sounds nutty. Even for me.

Yeah, Skydog posted the correct link, the one that I failed at.
I'm pretty sure we can all just agree to eat a varied intake of raw and cooked eggs. When the difference may be ~2-7 grams of protein who gives a fuck? Just eat up bitches. I'll stick to 75% cooked eggs though. But that's just me.
I like to blend some raw eggs with milk and Milo. I can't ever really eat anything for breakfast unless it's liquid, so it works for me.
Oh, btw.
"A lot of people drink raw egg shakes because Sylvester Stallone popularised it in Rocky.
Odd thing is, he didn't do it to show how someone training should eat. It was to show how broke Rocky was. He was so poor he couldn't afford the gas to cook the eggs.
It was in the commentary, or his A&E Biography or his book. I can't remember which one." - 'sugarfree' over at T-nation
