Biking is great bro. Exercise and useful transportation all in one. When the weather holds out, try doing your little errands on the bike instead of car or busin it. I ride to the farmers market all the time to pick up veggies, and a good grocery store isn't very far either. My wife and I even like to cruise down to the bars on our tandem!
If you're still in Portland (like it says under your avatar) you're pretty lucky.... Portland is supposed to be a bike friendly town, although kind of hilly :-) I've got friends that commute from SE side to downtown everyday for work. Lots of good alternate roads to get your around town.
Eat lean meat and good portions of vegetables. You'll tone up in no time.

I am near Portland. In Hood River, equally bike friendly, but much more hilly. We are at the base of the Columbia river in fact I can walk to the river edge in about 20 minutes. I could coast my bike from my house to there without peddling.

i can ride my bike for like 30 miles and still be good for more, you just have to get into a routine and your body will start to catch up
for best results look at what you're eating daily and make the needed changes, then ride your bike till you cant ride anymore and keep pushing yourself a couple times a week and you'll get to where you wanna be

It's good that you want to make such a drastic change and get yourself in great shape, but you have to work up to it. Most people that start exercise programs throw themselves in head first and either hurt themselves or don't see the immediate results they expect and get discouraged and give up before it really starts to work.
I'd say something like the free weights twice a week, and cardio 2-3 other days a week would be plenty of exercise to start out with, and you wouldn't be overdoing yourself on any particular days. You can add workouts or extend workouts in a few weeks or months when necessary.
There's good information about sets of free weight workouts everywhere, my only personal advice is forget about that slow and steady and repetitive bullshit most people like to do. Fast, powerful, explosive, CONTROLLED movements are the best/fastest way to build strength.
For the heavy bag look up IntoCombat, they have a lot of really good conditioning drills and exercises for boxing, kickboxing, basically any combat sport. I'm using a few of their circuits right now to catch my sorry ass cardio back up to where it needs to be.

Pick up some glutamine.
Get more protien. Fish is the best, low in fat, filled with protein and tons of omega fatty acids.
consistency is key, its not hard to look like your in shape, but to be in shape and actually "stay" in shape you have to make it a routine.
I do all my workouts at home. I have finally sustained some consitency over the last few months.
Get a journal and keep track of your progress. It has helped me alot.
Weightlifting 3 times a week (these workouts still include cardio)
Plenty of stretching, Tai chi, shadow boxing, and bag work.
I also try to do 15-20km on the bike 4-5 times a week. (Hockey is great to watch during)
Work yourself harder every 2 weeks, each time step it up a notch. If your still sore 1-2 days from your workout, wait until the third day to start again. Just do alot of stretching on off days.

And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand." Start rock climbing man. Just find a gym and boulder! Its such an amazing sport, its not just your body its your mind too! There is tons of time to think about the problem at hand and whatever else too. I've been doing it for about 2 months now, but I'm about to really get serious with it. I have to catchup with my friends!
The best part is I want to go far with it and really travel the world in search of problems. Its beautiful.

The strength from rock climbing is REAL strength, it's not shit you get in the gym.
I climb with my University club @ Kangaroo Point cliffs (Queensland, Australia), the majority of the time it's at night. You can have 100+ people there @ midnight, it's such a happening place for beginners and experts alike.
That is amazing, I'll have to remember Australia when I start to travel the world
And agreed completely, the strength from climbing is REAL. This is what I've come to see in my own body and what I constantly hear from others!

I should be ridiculously out of shape.
But something amazing seems to have happened. I eat whatever I want, I don't work out much... and somehow I'm LOSING tons of weight.
It's really weird. When I was doing everything I should, I never lost any. Now every time I go to the doctor I weigh less even though I've done nothing.
I really don't know what is wrong with me, but I like it.

I have. They said nothing was wrong. I'd imagine it's probably a mix of Adderall and maybe my metabolism has sped up slightly like they said.
Weed might actually have something to do with it as well. I started losing weight right after I started smoking. It might be just coincidence though.

Hit the gym, 3 days a week.
The LA Fitness in Los Angeles has a $0 initiation fee if you join now. You should look into it.
I recommend 20-40minutes per session. Suggest M/W/F routine.
good luck
