What is a 'bad person"?

I contend there is no such thing.

I agree. However I think their are "bad" actions and I try to avoid those engaging in to much of that shit.

Can one present an argument for the non-existence of something?

In the "enlightened" and compassionate sense that we are all human and therefore are subject to mistakes, there is no such thing as a bad person, only bad acts.

Even though bad and good are subjective, I think a "bad" person is one who has internal problems or negativity and spreads them externally, onto others.

Humans that take other life in order to live must certainly qualify as bad then.

So it's decided.  Humans are all bad.

Humanity tends toward unskillfulness IMO. We can't handle the brain we have.

OK, we can move on then. We finally resolved an issue.

Seriously, how can a lesser act (a negative vibe) be worse than taking a life?

I think many people aren't happy with their lives, and would rather be dead, except for the fact that they don't know what death is, so they would rather just be non-existent.

I read an article my psych professor gave me a while back about how humans have reptilian brains.  Humans have some reptilian structures in the brain.  Since we came after reptiles and have additional brain structures, we can assume that humans possess an evolved reptilian brain.  The article discusses the idea that the more evolved human brain structures have to function at the speed or level of the older, reptilian structures.  If that idea is correct, we pretty much have a super-charged Ford Pinto.

Hmmm...I would say that there are some people who lack any morals or who have the wrong morals.  Does "bad person" mean "immoral person"?  If so, I would say that such people exist.

What are you referring to?  Moral standards?  While I would certainly recognize that morality is not absolute, it can generally be measured in terms of compassion and integrity.

I think morals are irrelevant, same with good and bad.  Different situations call for different behaviors.  Maybe a few 'morals' or golden rules such as "treat others how you wish to be treated."  Besides that, most morals seem to just be an overflow of Christian beliefs into society (obviously a loose generalization).

I feel pretty compassionate for those live animals I dissect, I am morally sound. :sun:

A baby is born severely physically disabled and retarded. You  say all life is precious and being the compassionate person you are you say let it live. I see the same situation and say the quality of life this being will have to endure will most likely be hellish from my standpoint. It would be the height of cruelty to let it live. Put it gently to death. Who is "right" and "moral"?

That's why I said morality is not absolute.  There's a judgment call to be made in that situation, and both sides have their points to be made.  It would nonetheless be clearly immoral to murder a healthy baby born to a willing mother.
