Humidifier help

There are a couple questions i have about the use of humidifier stemming from conflicting information on this site. First one of the guides said to have your humidifier go through a few stages of 2L bottles to swirl and condense the suspended water droplets, however in another it says that it can be piped directly into your terrarium with no problem. on the first one it talks about an ultrasonic humidifier and the second one is talking about a Cool mist humidifier. So im wondering is it okay to just pipe a cool mist humidifier right into a terrarium Second the shops around here carry things called "cool moisture" humidifiers. I am wondering if those are the same thing as "cool mist" humidifiers?

Let us know what tek your using. Are going to use Brown Rice Flour Cakes? Like in the PFtek? Or are you going to use a bulk substrate such as compost, manure, coir, straw?
How large of a scale are you going with? All this relates to how you will humidify your setup.
If you are just doing cakes I would suggest you forget the humidifier altogether and just use damp perlite for humidification. See the shotgun terrarium by Roger Rabbit.

you dont need to pipe it through liter bottles. Pipe it right in. If things are getting wet put it on a timer. Most people run the coolmist 24/7, I do. with an ultrasonic or fogger system kicking on periodically.
thats my system. fae moist air 24/7. fogger on a timer piped directly in

Hey quick question what kind of tray is that under your greenhouse, I have the same greenhouse but have it sitting in a sterlite tub, but the tub is alittle to small and I can't find one that is just right they are either just alittle to small or way to big.

pint or half pint cakes?
Either way you should be able to just use the Shotgun FC-the perlite 3-5" will give you plenty of moisture and the holes on all 6 sides will get your FAE. Cheaper to boot.

its available at lowes. its a washing machine overflow tray. 25$
yeah man unless you have the humidifier and some money to burn, perlite will do the trick. much better yeilds with bulk by far and I dont think they are any harder. I skipped cakes all together. first grow 1.4 lbs dry. can we say beginners luck.

Those teks are old and obsolete. If you're building a mini-greenhouse, you'll have use for a humidifier. If you're building a terrarium, perlite will deliver upper 90% humidity. I suggest building a shotgun terrarium. RR

I'm no expert, but I don't think you'd need to condense the droplets in bottles. Just make sure there is no cool mist blowing directly on your mushrooms, cuz it will condense on them, then you got soggy shrooms!

Okay, here's my question about humidifiers.
Why does everyone suggest "cool mist" humidifiers? What's wrong with warm mist?

I dont know about warm mist
but my humidifier buckets blow directly on the logs or tubs. but that little fan has such a high output that it does not get things soggy even at 99% rh constant
if stuff gets soggy then I just turn the fogger down.
when running casings the fogger barely runs at all so its a non-issue

warm mist humidifiers burn alotta electricity, and they raise the temperature of your greenhouse. If you can control the temperature of your chamber with a warm mist, be my guest. But it's going to burn more electricity. Cool mist is fun to watch too :P But primarily just temperature problems is what I hear...

I personally dont like coolmist as they have little to no reservoir for running 24/7. yeah yeah yeah. you can rig up all kinds of refilling holes and auto refilling and larger capacity reservoirs, but if its small an air stone, five gallon bucket, fogger and some timers with a small fan go a long way as far as adjusting your humidity outputs and not refilling often.
my humidifiers have an 18 gallon reservoir. I am thinking of rebuilding my buckets into 30 gallons anyway, but I only have to refill about once a week. Just add more iodine to the water when you refill it.
question for the iodine water treating folks. when you treat your water at 1-2 drops per gallon. after a few days or a week or whenever it needs refilling. I treat the amount of new water going in. should I bump it up a little bit to further treat the water that is already in the reservoir.

yeah. I refill mine once a week and it humidifies 2 greenhouses at 99RH with tons of FAE.
I got so much other work to do to maintain my little homies and bring them to their fullest I cant be fretting about running out of water.

*nod* Yea, I can understand.
But if i'm not mistaken, the only thing I'd use a humidifier for with monos is to just keep the ROOMS humidity at a relatively decent level so the tubs keep their humidity properly.

imo Mono tubs are not optimal. I think you would get better results from combining methods. Add fanning and misting to the regimen.
with an air pump and some kind of mist rod, like a reptile humidifier available at petco for a few bucks more will keep your mono tubs free of co2 and reduce your misting, eliminate fanning. Or you could make one out of a qt jar, air stone and some extra tubing.
in some of my earlier grows I was stumped by mutations which I believe were caused by lack of FAE which causes non-optimal co2 concentrations.
heres a whole tub of co2 crazed mushies
Mono's can function well but you need to dial your room in like you were talking about. I find it easier to use ceiling fan in the room, space heater, central AC and a humidifier to make the room conditions stable, and then dial in the greenhouses for different stages of growth.

True, a monotub requires the "dialing in" to perfect it's settings, but once you have it perfected, I think it's without exception the best chamber you can have, when considering yields, time consumption (after the tweaking, of course) and automation.
And, yea, those are mutants, but still 3x better than my entire first harvest, thus far.

I believe that grow would have yeilded 2x the wait with proper rh and fae. thats talking about a lot of yield vs buying at the most 100$ worth of stuff
