hey everyone...i have 4 mycobags going right now, all same place, same climate.  well, 2 of them are colonizing...the past 2 days, mycelium has been growing in those 2.  it excites me, because everyone says mycobags are crap.  but, i was wondering; when do i introduce them into light?  i read after 90-1000% colonization, but how do i know when this is?  sorry bout this guys, this is the 1st time i'm growing, so i'm uneducated, but thrilled!  thanks!! :grin:

dudes, thanks again, and for the speedy replies...well, i read ur grow log & am feeling better about this.  let me tell you what i did.  i followed the sporeworks procedures, meaning, innoc'ing in the center of the substrate, each side.  so, i did this on 10/7...it's the 20th, and mycellium has spread over about 30%-40% of the substrate so far.  i just wanted to say that i DID get mycellium after 11 days, innoculating in the center of the substrate, believe it or not!
**one more question for now;  how do u "break up the mycellium in the bag.  can u please explain this, cause again, it's my "1st time" and i dont wanna fuck anything up.  thanks alot!!!! :smile:

Wow, well everyone that says the myco bags are crap is because they couldn't get anything to grow. Well your the 2nd person that I've heard of that got growth from innoculating in the center of the substrate, unfortunately it didn't work for me. To spread the mycelium around, massage it around, it's kind hard to describe, but I "crushed" mine, very gently, just becareful not to compact it down when your done spreading it around, and don't really crush it, because it'll kill the mycelium.

What kinda temps did you store it at. What area do you live. Is it excessively dry where you are. I lost ten bags, because I think it is to dry in northern United States.

did you read the grow log? the link is a few posts up. As for the dryness, inject in sterilized water, worked for me. One bag got really dry and it perked it right up.

i live in Northeastern US.  it's cold.  probably around 50degrees during the evening.  but, my MycoBag climate is in a big cardboard box.  it's in a box from my new guitar amp...20"high, 24"wide, 12"deep.  perfect size for the mycobags.  i wrapped a "3 heat" heating pad in a blanket (only ONE layer) of the towel between the heating pad & the bags.  usually keep the heating pad on the 2nd setting.  and just threw a blanket over the box....thats it.  thanks again guys!  i don't have a server to post pics of the mycellium growth, but it's definately growing from inside of the substrate-to the outside.  i dont know how this would differ to innoc'ing on the extreme sides of the bag, if any...
well, with massaging or "breaking up" the mycellium, that's supposed to spread it?  wouldn't it naturally spread itself, like it's been doing?  :confused:

yeah, but it'll take a lot longer if you don't break it up, because instead of it growing from 1 side, it'll be growing from all over, and it'll spread faster.

Have you ever tried growing during the winter. Right now it is 32 degrees and I am waiting for spores. I hope they dont freeze, because UPS leaves it on my back step.

of my rye jars, the only one that is colonizing right now is the one that i thought was too dry for anything to happen. i mean this guy is dry.
