Staying Asleep - Lucid Dreams
    #9781147 - 02/11/09 09:21 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

So a few nights ago I had a lucid dream.  I've done it a few times, usually I figure out I'm in a dream by finding something illogical in it and then I am fully lucid.  Usually I will wake up shortly after because I think "I'm going to wake up."  Sure enough I do.  My last one was very different.  It was like there was a shockwave and cars and people were all being overturned and launched away.  I was hit by the shockwave and I tried grabbing on to things to stop myself from flying off.  I remember hanging onto my gutter and thinking ok, I'm going to go into the atmosphere and probably freeze to death.  Right when I accepted my death I was lucid.  I started flying around.  Then it happened again, I thought about waking up and I did.  Yeah, dreams are fucking weird, but hey If I'm going to trip on DMT every night I minds well figure out how to control it.

Re: Staying Asleep - Lucid Dreams [Re: Elixier]
    #9781266 - 02/11/09 09:39 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Earlier this morning I had a semi-lucid dream where I was with a large group of people in the desert or something and we had to cross a huge bubbling mud pit (like those seen in Yellowstone National Park), or rather, a bubbling mud lake. Some people decided to swim across it, and I was about to do the same until a man who was operating some sort windowless two-seat helicopter invited me in, and we flew across it; at this point, the bubbling mud sea became a sea of steaming hot water. When we landed on the other side, I saw (from an underwater view) the dead bodies of many of the people who attempted to swim across, swishing about with the waves, and a most of them had ghastly, wide-eyed facial expressions. After this was a series of adventures, all having to do with crossing this lake.

I also have recurring lucid dreams where I'm able to fly at will; it's like I pick up on the surrounding air currents and use them to my advantage in order to fly. It's somewhat difficult and scary (even though it's a lucid dream), but once I get the hang of it, it's really fun!

So Elixier, what was your point in making this post? Was there anything philosophical or spiritual pertaining to lucid dreams that you wanted to share with everyone?

usually i only have lucid dreams right before i wake up...its like ive gone from SUPER DEEP coma style sleep to like 90% asleep, so my brain starts to turn back on and like sense the dream...i realise im dreaming through something illogical, like u, but it doesnt matter until i actually wake up...the wierd thing is, i can actually stay dreaming for what feels like a long time (i've had a full-on porn style scene go on and believe me...u can last a long ass time in a dream lol) but when i wake up, my alarm is going off and i know for a fact it turns off after 5 minutes, i always find the time distortion pretty cool

but anyway when u have a lucid dream is it right before u wake up?

As REM sleep becomes progressively longer and longer throughout the night, chances of having a  lucid dream increase.

The longer amount of sleep you get, the longer periods of REM sleep you get, the more chances of becoming lucid you get.

I'm going to be getting some Silene Capensis soon, it's supposed to increase the vividness and lucidity of dreams.

Anyone have any experience with this plant?

Last night I was honored with the Nobel Prize in theoretical physics. This worldwide recognition has given me the opportunity to bring hope to a war-ravaged world. I vowed to myself I would work like a dog at this. But now, it's 10:30 in the morning and I'm just getting out of bed. I did get up earlier around 8:00am, but I just lied in bed for a while, and then...jerked off. I've got to stop masturbating, it makes me too lazy. Stop it Albert...stop it.

I've never used it before, but I should be purchasing some by the end of this week.

That and Calea Zacatechichi. I hear sometimes people don't feel any effects from just using one plant, so I thought I might as well try both at the same time.

Never heard of that. I've used dream herb (calea zacatechichi), but the best thing for my dream recall and lucidity is a sober night sleep.

I used to have an oz. of Calea Zaatechichi; I used to make a tea of it, and smoke a blunt of it while drinking the tea. Probably the most bitter thing I've ever drank (or smoked), but it gave me some intense dreams! :sleepingcow:

the point was more than moot.
lucid dreaming is a personal experimental-spiritual carnival.
typically the end of the dream is when you realize you are dreaming.
flying dreams are part of the carnival, but they are not truly experimental until you know you know you are dreaming IYKWIM.
the point of this thread is how to keep that trip happening once you know you know, or do you just dream on and pretend you knew you knew to your LD buddies.

In my lucid dreams, I "know I know", but then I usually make myself pretend that I don't know in order to suspend my disbelief; it's like watching a movie or a play, only you're the producer, director, and the actor.

Anyone have any tips on Lucid Dreaming? I remember my  dreams every night and write them down in a dream journal but I can never seem to achieve lucidity... I recall in dreams thinking to myself "Can this be a dream?" But I always dismiss it because it seems just so real to me. How long did it take you guys before you could achieve lucidity?

I always dream in the morning.. I will wake  up at about 11am and go back to sleep and have another dream and then repeat if I'm lucky.

I love dreaming so much I just wish to achieve lucidity..

It's not always so easy for me, but I find that it's easiest when you wake up in the morning, and then nod back off to sleep.

I can't really give you any tips, though, because I am not yet an expert in the field, other than suggesting that you buy yourself a bottle of melatonin.

set an alarm some point in the night, once you wake up its easier to enter and exit a lucid dream.

Well, DMT is produced in the brain while you're sleeping; I'm not sure if it's during a particular phase, if it's just random, or if it's throughout the sleep state.

I wanna try some, too, but nobody tells me how I can get some....
