Trehalose is widely distributed in nature. It is known to be one of the sources of energy in most living organisms and can be found in many organisms, including bacteria, fungi, insects, plants, and invertebrates. Mushrooms contain up to 10–25 % trehalose by dry weight. Furthermore, trehalose protects organisms against various stresses, such as dryness, freezing, and osmopressure.

The difference between the substances doesn't matter. This is a war on consciousness, on our right to the very essence of what we are. With no control over that, we have no need to speak of freedom or a free society. -fireseed

I find the whole "my drug should be legal but yours should be illegal" mindset disgusting and hypocritical. It's what George Bush and company do when they drink a cocktail and debate the best way to imprison marijuana users. -Diploid

Here's some links that illustrate some of the uses of trehalose:

Sweetner
Deoderant
Medicine

:mushroom2: Another mushroom, shiitake, that prints after frozen, this one is not much of a surprise,
I've seen these mature on logs after emerging in a warm spell in spring the weather gets
colder with below freezing nights above freezing days.

This looks like it may print, Portabella:

Don't think what it has dropped so far will show on a pic.
I'm going to put some ports in a -40F to see if they will
recover and print, might be a week or so, till I get around
to it. The mushrooms in this post were put in a freezer that
was measured at 0.5 F.

Cheers,

falcon

I put a portabella in the freezer at -40F for like 4 hours,
after it thawed it didn't make a print.
