well my dehydrator uses heat to dry. Ones that work for boomers just use circulated air. and the heat broke down the mushroom and killed all the power of em =(

I thought they all used heat to dry hmmm i also thought that they didnt get hot enough to hurt them and it can take a few days to get them good and dry just laying by the fan.

Dude, use the lowest or a lower heat setting. The heat from the dehydrator will not harm your potency.

I will try to get a pic of it later and post but I got this great thing from an office super store. It has like 5 pull out drawers. The whole thing is made of wire mesh. I just load the drawers with the mushrooms and them put them in front of a little cheap space heater that I have which has a fan setting and leave it on the fan mode. A day or so later they are pretty well dried. I have a container that I store them in and have a coffee filter filled with damp-rid and taped the ends together. This makes sure any last moisture will be sucked up. works well for me.

Again the cat liter wasn't my idea (try using the search feature) and the only place I have looked for desiccant is on ebay they have it and it seems cheap.

you can pick up Damp Rid from most hardware stores and home centers. Check near the paint aisle. They use it to get moisture out of basements before they paint.

I use a dehydrator set at the lowest heat setting and have no problems with potency whatsoever.

Ok here are the shots of that try system that I got from the office super store. I put a power cord in one shot so you get an idea of size.

I bought the same nesco food dehydrator from walmart and it fried my little guys too. It made my room hot as shit. After they were dry I ate 2 grams and they barley did anything. I am also looking for a good drying method but I think I am just gonna make a contraption out of a small trash bin, a few mesh shelves, a fan, and possibly some damp rid after that oh and a lamp

You could always just take the dehydrator apart and disable the heating element. But I just use an american harvest set at 95 degrees. No problems

As far as where to buy desiccant, I've bought Drierite from Kmart a couple times. I spread my fresh mushrooms out, blow a fan over them till they're mostly shrunken but still flexible, then put them on a brass screen over Drierite.

I took ya'lls advice and removed the heating element. Will it still get them completely dry or should i add a couple of lamps or use some desiccant?

You'll know if they're dry enough. Cracker-dry really means dry as a cracker :P A clean snap of the stem will tell you. If they're not completely dry, a day in a desiccation chamber will seal the deal.
