I do, sometimes.
There is this lady I always see at my job. I stop in at a hospital almost every day, and there is this one X-Ray tech there, a pretty large middle-aged lady.
She just looks so SAD. Every time I walk by her she'll avert her eyes down like, 10 feet away like she's expecting you to say something mean. I always smile and say "Good Morning, Ma'am", which makes her look up and smile back at me. But her eyes stay sad.  She reminds me of my Mom, somehow. Just the large, middle-aged white lady in her, I suppose.
I can just tell, mostly from being a repentant bully in school, that people have been mean to her in the past.
But she's so nice.
I don't know, maybe I have her life history of bullying all wrong and she's a happy and well-adjusted person inside, just lacking in self-confidence.
But I still want to hug her.
I'd probably be fired.

There's this one dude that worked over in the computer dept. adjacent to Geek Squad who looked like a short, chubby, Harry Potter. He always talked really low, never smiled, and always looked like he got beat up. I always told my coworkers I just wanted to give him a hug.

There was this girl in my class last year. Easily one of the cutest, and simultaneously hottest, girls I've ever seen. Her homelife was a complete wreck though. There were five people in her family other than her and she couldn't rely on any of them for anything. And she smelled amazing. It was a combination of weed and an ice cream shop. She was super-quiet though. She never talked to anyone. Stared at her desk most of the time. When you were actually able to see her eyes you could tell she didn't have the energy to even try to be happy, which would explain why she wouldn't talk. I really just wanted to hug her.
I didn't know anyone in that class so when it came time for a group assignment I asked her if she wanted to be in my group. She looked really surprised, and kinda relieved. I don't think she knew anyone either. Over the course of the project we became friends a little bit. We didn't get real close, but we did hang out a lot. I finally got to hug her after the final was over. We finished at the same time and when we got out into the hallway she just stopped, hugged me, wished me a good winter break and walked away.
We don't really hang out anymore though. She got some boyfriend over break. He's pretty cool, and I'm happy for her, but I'll be damned if I don't wish I'd made a move.

The-girl-who-is-now-thankfully-my-ex totally fucked me over at the beginning of that semester, and because of that I managed to let two good-looking cool chicks get with other guys.
Live, learn, and try again I suppose...
I'm still in school. Plenty of girls. I'm confident there will be more opportunities
