Wal-Mart Sux
    #976325 -

This isn't so much a question or...damnit, its not much of anything.

First I'd like to thank God, for in him all things are possible, and I'd like to thank everyone who posts on these boards. Thanks to all the info in these boards, I've finally constructed a terrarium that I feel confident in.

Wal-Mart sucks because no one that works there knows whether they have...well...anything! I asked a fricken manager if they carried humidity guages, and his answer was "I wouldn't know where to even look for something like that."!!!!!!

Well, anyway, thanks for all the help.

NoV

Good thing you didn't ask for a Hygrometer. A 'humidity meter' is usually found attached to a thermometer ( AKA " temprature meter/gauge")

A better quality humidity meter can be found at a tobacco store. Try a beter quality cigarstore (online also).  Tell him it's for your humidor. Should run $12. Use the yellow pages or Google.

that is an excellent suggestion about using a tobacco store...needing a humidity guage for the humidor!!! I, too, am in the market for a humidity guage and that is the perfect ploy to get one! Thank you, I shall use that suggestion!
I agree...wal-mart DOES suck for EVERYTHING accept getting various size rubbermaid plastic tubs.

My wal-mart is a Super Wal-Mart. This basicly means it's oversized and nobody knows where to find anything, not even the workers.

My wall mart kicks ass! When I was a kid I went like 4 times a week and always wandered around the store so I basically know where everything's at. When I ask they walk me to the product I asked for. Must be a canadian thing

Wal-Mart is good for "general merchandise" of which they have a shitload and people generally know what and where it is. But when you start asking for odd specific item such as "hygrometers" or "vermiculite" most employees have no idea what you're talking about. If you're lucky you might be able to wander around and find what you're looking for. Unless it's a Super-Dooper Wal-Mart.... i hate those things.

Just for the record, I have never found verm or perlite at my local wally world. Canning jars during the summer, but come fall they disappear and don't get reordered. I prefer my local nursery and hardware store for most myco experiment supplies.

Pet stores are good to find humidity guages. I picked up a "reptile" guage a year ago for about $3, works perfectly. Even has a sticky back so you can mount it in the terrarium.

Walmart is ok for lots of items, if you have the patience to find them yourself. I go to walmart only before 6AM, because after that, the mexicans from mexico start showing up and pretty soon the store is packed with screaming brat kids throwing everything from the shelves to the floor. There's also lots of redneck heathen babies running around as well. Never take a shopping cart into a Walmart, it'll drive you mad.
I have found the the best place to find just about whatever you may need is Ace hardware or something similar. If they don't have it on the shelves, they have a huge catalog to search in, and they will most always be more than happy to special order anything you want. My local helpful hardware man also doesn't ask a lot of questions about what I'm going to use the thingy for unless were looking for a substitute, which I like.

The tobacco store idea was 'borrowed'- author unknown.
I like the $3.reptile angle. I was thinking the same thing when i was in Petsmart, but i was easily distracted at the time. I wonder what kind of accuracy you get for your 3 bucks? $12 is resonable.

When tom green first came out on mtv (I was about 17) Me and my buddies got piss drunk and high as hell and went to wall mart......With a video camera My buddie bryan was dressed in his karatie(sp?) suit from 4th grade. We were walking around the store asking people Questions and generally pissing everybody off. My buddy got on the damn intercom in the bikes section and said "Now a wall mart special In the bike section All bikes are 75 % off". Like 30 people flocked to the bikes section and started statching up the huffys. We bailed off ouitside where bryan got stuck in a tent and started fighting it from the inside. We almost got arrested and were banned from wallmart for life.

I wanna hunt naked thru the aisles of wal-mart. I want to catch the sickly sweet scent of "the shopper" on the air conditioned wind while I leap from top shelf to top shelf occasionally becoming enraged by dog food and toasters and what not and feeling compelled to throw these things at my prey, the shopper.

*huff huff*

I want to devise simple yet overly complex traps made of produce and fishing gear. I will hide my kills in the rafters and amongst the bright lights so as not to warn the other "shoppers" of my presence. I want to smell the fear of "the shopper" as s/he discovers that I have come for them and there is no escape but death.

AHaha I just use walmart as my bitch to get the stuff to cultivate, every year i go in and scam the gear i need off them, and then in the spring i hand all of it off to a friend.

Today was the first time I shoplifted from there though, not very cool, but I'm eating plain fucking pasta right now, good gravy.  Plus it was too easy to grab that air pump  word.
