From what I'm reading these people need to do the teks like the teks say to do them. "I tried this tek but I was off here" "I did this tek but I can measure right" "I did this tek but I filled the jars to high so it didn't work I'm gonna do another tek"
What we need here are Measuring cups and reading glasses. Just do either tek exactly the way they are written and you will have success like most that do them.

for those who are having to dry problems... do you have the metal lid as well as tyvek or tyvek only. I found that tyvek only allows for quite a bit of osmosis, especially at higher elevations. If one keeps their incubator humid- 80-90 RH would this help stop the drying?

well said magash. seems like everytime someone complains about a tek, they mention how they altered it. They are teks, to follow. Not suggestions guys!

Hey, So I've used rye before, and I got germination, but it took just under three weeks! but afterwards, I had robust growth. I'm cracking open the syringes, and my jars are taking a while to germinate again, so I decided it's best to investigate my water content. My jars deff. don't look like Anno's, do these look to dry? Note, there is condensation on the glass whenever I take them out of the incubator, but the grains look pretty dry on the outside. I soaked for 22 hrs, then simmered for 30 minutes. I stopped simmering when I counted some burst rye kernels. Then, to bide some time while they dried off, I removed as many burst kernals as i could find. loaded them up, pc for 75 minutes, let the PC set for thirty minutes before loading the next jar, then knocked them all up the next day. I shook each jar vigorously after inoculation. Been three days, spore syringes not an issue, cuz they germinated VARY quickly in PF jars, but they are at least four months old now. Been keepin them in a tote box in my basement, dark and cool. How does the water look though? (note, the second pic is of hard red winter wheat, store ran out of rye

Honestly, I guess i'm jeleous that everyone else's rye jars germinate in a few days, why do mine take so long? Thanx for your time! Myko (my camera sux, so the best close-up pics I can get are through a magnifying glass, sorry!

That's a seriously obsolete rye prep tek. I would recommend the grain prep tek shown on this page and video. RR

I used exactly this tek today to prepare some jars and I have to admit the water content looks pretty good. I just have one problem. When I put the inocculated jars in my warm spot (exactly 75°F) the lids started to get wet when I looked a few hours later. I don't have your bell two piece jarlids because I live in Europe and I could only get one-piece-lids so I have a tyvek layer on the inside and micropore tape on the outside of the GE hole.
I hope I don't get problems with contams due to that moisture.( Tyvek and micro pore tape are both damp).
Is there anything I can do or should I just wait and see?
