Argyreia nervosa cultivation photolog

argyreia and turbina corymbosa stalks closeup
argyreia propagation with cutting
in 15 months from seed I had a single bunch of 3 buds, 2 of which opened [the thirde was invaded by something] . The weather got worse and the branch fell off before any seeds formed... This is the fastest flowering occasion I have read and I believe it can archieved even faster in right conditions and climate...

I grew a whole vine... Until it flowered it took a few years... Then I found it was fake Argyreia, the indian kind I think. I then killed the bastard, tried a lot of those seeds and nothing.

cheers, kada the turbinas went to the ground much later, I expect anything next year, from everything, no nothing!
Still , turbinas seem much more cold / otherwise hardy than HBWR
the flowering one is 15 months old at photo. it is of course in the ground....
Some leaves are now suffering from a fungal shit, just like last year when she was small. I don't expect new growth from her until april. But I believe in her. I just cut off the infected leaves, and didnt spray with antifungal shit... It has been raining a lot for over a month, and argyreias were in their 'hibernation' thing...

I'd love to grow some too, but the weather here doesn't really permit it

It would survive winter?

Nope, but you would get seeds that you could start the following spring. It wouldn't survive a winter here either, just like all my morning glories that die back, but I get enough seeds from them for next years crop.

Are you sure it would grow fast enough to give me seeds before winter? I've heard they grow quite slowly

KBG1977, florida is in California , right??? You have similar to mine weather, propably, so you could give it a try... Argyreia grow very very fast!
No argyreia nervosa is known to flower in less than a year. Mine took 15 months, sources say it cannot flower until 18 months old... So what you're saying about canada cultivation is propably wrong... this aint an anual Ipomoea, this is a perennial vine that takes a bit to establish...
I might give Turbina a try though if I was in canada, not expectin too much though... Minimum temperature is supposed to be 15 C {!!} for A.nervosa...

Felixhigh, you should have planted some seeds of a tested batch [ I am sure you know this now!] but than again I am not sure why you would kill thius plant. It's so beautiful. Do you have any photos??? I would love to see a 'fake' indian strain

i grew turbina in canada for 3 years in the mildest place there (SW BC) and it did not flower, and won't live outside. FYI canucks should be fine in florida though, unless it ices....roots may stay intact though...???

Ok,well I didn't know that it was a perennial plant.I though it had growth habits similar to other morning glories.I think it could survive the mild winters here, that freak cold we had recently happens every 5 years,or so,and isn't normal. And we never get ice.I want to give this plant a shot,so if anybody wants to part with any seeds shoot me a PM

mutant, are you planning to update this thread with pictures like a growlog? if so, would you like it to be moved into the ethnobotanical growlog and pictures forum?
