...for when they are severely needed. If you run your mouth off all the time, it detracts from the gravity of what you're saying because you say shit all the time. tl;dr shut the fuck up and then what you say will actually have an impact.

Wise words indeed. Hard to live by sometimes, though.
If you speak too much you end up focusing a lot on simply buttressing things you've already said, which leads to mental stagnation.

There's a verse in Proverbs (or is it Psalms...) that reads:
He who holds his tongue is wise.
-------------------- Well I try my best to be just like I am, but everybody wants you to be just like them. -- Bob Dylanfireworks_god said:It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

There's a verse in Proverbs that reads:
He who holds his tongue is wise.
A wiseman once told me to hold my tongue and and say "I was born on a Pirate Ship" I looked a fool.

I completely agree.
The more you say, the lower the value of your words get.
One stereotype of wise/philosophical people is that they don't say much, but whenever they do speak people are generally quiet and they listen.

Once everyone is telepathic and there is no longer speech will everyone be wise?

That's still a form of communication.
Not vocal, but it's the same concept.

People who talk a lot are, frankly, extremely annoying.
....but I still love them!

Many deaf and mute people constantly perceive a ringing noise in their ears....

It's fundamentally the same concept, but it's still very different.

, I knew that was coming!
Honestly, I don't remember exactly where I heard this, but I've heard it from various sources many times in my life. I'm sure you can find the proof if you fool around with Google for a while.
