Cyanescens, pretty ones
    #974979 - 10/19/02 02:54 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

Even though everything has been really dry lately, there are a few micro/myco niches that are putting out cyanescens:

Like this:

Closer:

Tucked back in the grass, there were a few more. . .not a lot, but not too bad considering the complete lack of rain:

Damn they are pretty:

Happy hunting, wherever you may be

"...I found dozens of single specimens.  That's what I call hunting.  There are only a few "good" hunters here, even now.  You're certainly in that group.  I would imagine if we hunted together we'd find our styles are similar."

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.

My eyes aren't that great, but I'm not too tall, what can I say

The substrate was textbook:  Some kind of non-cedar woodchips that had been laid out sometime last spring, maybe last fall.  Lots of plants growing through.  I bet in the next couple of weeks we'll be seeing more all around town.  Praise the rain!
