Swimming or bathing while tripping-dangerous?

Whats your say concerning swimming or bathing while tripping? Wont you drown or something? I heard a story where someone on acid went for a swim in his pool and he then thought he was a fish, didnt surface for air and drowned :frown:
I dont know if its true, but the possibility is real. Showering is safer since there is no pools of water, just a waterflow, in a bath, you could slip and fall face down in stagnant water. Although I heard someone burnt himself cause he turned the shower on maximum hotness, he didnt even feel it till the comedown :frown: So it sounds wise to avoid water other than washing your hands, drinking and flushing the toilet.

Iv gone skinny dipping(you know, swimming nekkid) in a lake while tripping on 3 grams of cubes. VERY fun experience, didnt drown or anything. But my sober girlfriend was there so if anything was to happen id have been saved....

I say try it, but dont dose very high. And be carefull!

LSA, The trick to staying alive in a situation such as you describe is to weigh the volume of water as accurately as possible, then multiply your bodyweight by the number of grams of shrooms you ate, then remove that amount of water from the pool or hot tub. It's foolproof, you will never drown if you use this method. Always works for me! This of course only works for pools and hot tubs, do not swim in a pond, lake, or ocean, you will die!! FYI

yes but when tripping, you might not feel the urge to breath till its too late or you may accidentally breath water. Reguardless Im staying out of all water. Most of the injuries while tripping is physical, but we can use harm reduction. I also know another danger-eating. You might choke or something

No LSAuser is right.even breathing can be dangerous-you might swallow a bug, and since you were tripping you'd think you were a lizard cause a fucking bug flew down your throat and you'd go crazy or something like that. I'm waiting to here what LSAuser has to say about that because he always uses sources and he knows so much about shrooms and always knows what he's talking about.

me and a friend were on a hard copelandia trip a couple of months ago. we were on a beautiful beach,it was night and the sea very hot.
he went swimming and liked it very much:-)
i prefered to talk with the sky;-)

Ive went swimming a few times. Water is really interesting. In the hot tub if you go under the water. The sounds of the pumps are scary.

I never drowned and niehter have my friends.

Now, I know not everyone thinks about stuff all the time, but if you hear someone try to say that they took a hot shower and burned theirself and DIDN'T FEEL IT while tripping on shrooms, you should probably realize that this person is a compulsive liar. And if you were tripping so hard that going into water was a bad idea, you would probably be too paranoid to go in the water to begin with. Think about it.

however --- large doses of not-exactly-psychedelic substances (ex: alcohol, ketamine, barbituates, narcotics) are far more likely to have dangerous side effects (because, no doubt, they are often hitting more "stop/off" switches than "start/go" switches...)

You can easily have an enjoyable awsome experiance in water if you follow the right percautions while tripping.

First dont allow yourself to enter unfamiliar waters. (lakes ponds rivers oceans are all considered unfamiliar)
Second dont swim if your tripping so hard that you dont know the difference between real and not real (example: you think your a fish) in other words dont swim on extremely high doses.
Thirdly dont swim where you have to actually tred water. Make sure you can stand. Swimming is very tiresome and can be dangerous while tripping because of the exaustion shooms provide even with the smallest amount of exercise.
Finally i would recommend not actually swimming, but wading.

I dont know about lakes being unfamiliar waters. I love submerging myself when tripping. I even love washing my hands, the feeling and excitement of watching your feet go under is amazing, its like going in and out of two dimensions. The feeling of pressure is really great when getting totally underwater.

If I can eat an 1/8 and snowboard I think you could probably swim. I wouldn't try jumping off of anything to high into a body of water though. The only thing I have swam on and it didn't feel right was opium.

i've always wanted to snowboard on shrooms. about once a year, my family goes skiing (i snowboard, i find it a LOT easier), and im thinking about the next time i go, to shroom. but what if i stare at the sun or some shit? or what if i start like, bugging out and fucking trees and producing human-plant children? we could walk around and take over the world!
or maybe i would fly off a cliff and do all these cool stunts but when i land i think im a bird so i start flapping my hands and fall on the snow and eat the snow by accident and choke and die?

I wouldnt worry about it to much. Ive never done realy crazy dosages but from my experience you wont get that out of it that you drown yourself being a fish or something. I would worry about the level of distraction that might occur. Even swimming sober you may not always realize how seriouse undertow or currents are. If your mind is blown staring at the moon or your swimming after sparkles in the water you might get into more seriouse currents than you can handle. Its simple distractions that can be dangerouse taking your mind away from simple things like turning off the stove.

Tripping in the water is fun as long as you dose low. Yesterday I ate 2 fresh cope cyans and went up the North Shore of Oahu and surfing was so fun,. It was double overhead(12 foot tall walls of water with big hollow barrels) and I could really feel the power of the ocean. Flying down the waves was so much fun.
I love eating mushrooms before I go surfing, it gives you lots of energy and the scenary is beautiful. For the first 30 minutes I was out I just sat around and watched the waves and other surfers catching waves.


Tripping in the water shouln't be a problem if you dose isnt to high and you know what your doing.

i drank some shroom tea on malibu beach and then some of us went swimming it was a lot of fun .last week i ate a couple grams and when i started comming on i got in the shower.best damn shower i ever took.so yes i think swimming,showering,and anything else you want to do on shrooms is fine. as long as you don't set out to intentionaly harm someone... unless, of course, they deserve it.

Sometimes that can backfire though. When you realise they're not on the same wavelength, or you think they're out to get you, or they just plain drag you down or drive you mad with whatever they're doing in their soberity. They all seem to look at you heaps, and make a big deal out of the fact you're tripping and purposely fuck with you or do stupid shit like wave their fingers in front of your face like it's meant to be really buzzy and cool. :mad:

I've never gone crazy on shrooms, but I think rain is just about the best thing... I tried bathing, swimming, and anything that's splash splash. I think using bucket to pour large amounts of flowing water was about up there with rain. It makes me feel... warm and fuzzy.

Anyways, I've gone mad on LSD before and have to agree with most people here. You have to trip for real and not just read or think about the possibilities before you understand what's safe and what's not. Forgetting to breath... Never happened, even during my most intense trips. I think that part of the brain that controls your basic functions aren't affected.

But on behalf of LSAuser, there's no stupid questions, I say. He wants to know something before he tries it, I think it's a good idea. It'll keep him safe at least. Now for LSAuser, if you mention you've never tripped before, and you asked questions instead of sound like you know much, you'd have a lot better input.

Hmm I haven't read most of this thread, but for me, the threat would be (under my typical dosage) losing my innate ability to swim rather than forgetting to breathe or whatever. My comprehension of mechanics and gravity tend to disappear, making walking a very mindful task and swimming would be considerably more difficult.

I rode a kids tricycle underwater in my old mans pool once.  funny as hell, wheel kept spinning but i was moving slowly foward.  Hard to let out all the air in your lungs then come to surface and laugh.  My other mate lay on a floaty bag thinking he was dead, with his face in the water. :lol:

I was at the beach when I shroomed the first time (I wanted a nice friendly environment) and I went in for a dip. I took about half an 8th and it was pretty plesant. I didnt go swimming but i went in about knee deep and let the water hit me. Then I sat down and watched the waves. It was a very spiritual experience. I have a friend that goes surfing while shrooming all the time. He says it makes it a bit more interesting and it helps him feel the waves more. In any case I would make sure you are a strong swimmer and I would be very cautious. You never know what might happen.

I went nuts on shrooms and ran through a fountain and also swam in it.

I had pretty much lost complete control on this trip, and I still swam successfully without swallowing any water.  I didn't get any ideas that I was a fish, rather that I was super mario and that I had to go through pipes underwater. HAHAHAH!! 

I did however get 10 stitches on my knuckles at about 5 in the morning that night.

I could've gotten seriously injured or maybe even worse.  I don't think LSAusers post was a dumb one atall, but it IS two years old... :lol: :lol: :whoa:

I really don't know. I just know my comprehension of mechanics goes out the window when I'm tripping hard. In a lot of altered states, I know I'd have been quite a bit bad at driving but never have I had as strong a feeling about it as on mushrooms where I say 'wow, I couldn't even pull out of my drive way'. Swimming is such a mind over matter thing. Someone who hasn't learned how to swim and tells themself they can't swim will drop. I'm afraid if I can't do something second nature (but learned) like drive a car AT ALL that I'd be risking my life even more by swimming. You're right though, I don't speak from experience.

Went snorkeling at a beach in south Florida when i was in my teens like 15 years ago. I 2 gel tabs (LSD) had a great time until I realized how far out I swam, took 2 hours to get back to the beach seemed like 10 Min's because I was checking out all the fish and sting rays. I wouldn't recommend this however unless you play in the ocean alot and know your area(eg shark feeding times, tides, and current conditions, etc). Had alot of fun swimming into schools of fish, when you go upside-down sometimes the fish get right in your mask and look at you its cool shit. Anyway if you are determined to do it, try a small pool or something 1st. Also water parks can kick ass on small doses.

seems like I would have posted on this thread when it came around, apparently not. anyway

I've surfed and snorkeled on 2 gram trips, makes for an amazing time. I saw two transparent baby sharks last time!

My main safety precation is this: I wait till I've peaked. YOu don't want to be coming up in the water, who knows how far you'll go, that is dangerous. Wait till you come up, peak, and then do your activity.
