What makes it not true? and we can go on about this, huh? I think God reveals to us at his time. The books in the bible is not written by someone unknown. There is details like names, dates, etc. So many ppl are called but few listen, God uses us for his will, and these ppl were used to spread his word. When reading the bible keeping faith and asking god to show you the truth is really how you should go about it. Faith is something we naturally can't commit to cause our minds are plagued with so much thinking and an ego that you have to break free from. But that's our ongoing battle.

thats totally erroneous. we have little to no idea of who wrote the books of the Bible. The OT was written by 4 separate authors, labeled J,D,E, and P.
Moses didn't write it. fools who argue that he wrote the Torah don't ever take into account the fact that the real author records the death of Moses and also mentions that the location of Moses' grave had been known "for some time," insinuating that he had been dead for many many years.
if you're referring to the NT, well, the only author of any of those books that we can verify is Paul. then you have the whole argument of was he Gnostic or not. Many scholars consider some of the works attributed to him to be forgeries.
The best to read the Bible is to read it like you would read any other book. if it strikes you as moral, true, or without contradiction, then good for you. if it strikes you as a horrible contradictory book about a violent storm god, ignore it.

the bible is not meant to be taken literal. Why do you think there is so many interpretations and religions that stem from it? But you have to ask which is from god? Knowing the word and trying to have your own relationship with god, to open your heart and mind to his truth will answer you questions.

I strongly disagree. The reason there are interpretations is because people seek ways to follow their desires and still feel like they're following God.
Show me an example of something you mean is not to be taken literally - book and verse.

i didnt need to debate anything. If youre willing to blindly believe a book word for word, that was written thousands of years ago without any proof of evidence youre a moron.

Nobody is talking about believing it word for word.
We're talking about whether the information is meant to be read literally, or figuratively.
Reading it literally does not mean you believe it word for word, it means you believe it should be read as meaning what it says, as opposed to there being some deeper meaning in the words that is left unsaid.
Get it?

Ugh, again, you are saying we are talking about whether it is true or false.
You called him a moron for believing the bible should be read literally.
When he says yes, he isn't necessarily saying it is true, although he may indeed hold such a belief. He's saying it is MEANT, by it's writer, to be read as a truthful account.
The actual truth has nothing to do with whether certain statements are figurative or literal.

Yes, that is literal. Children are pure
Children are also small, undeveloped, uneducated, etc. Choosing the one quality of a child that you think is appropriate is called interpretation.

How do you know? Is there another cross reference in the bible saying purity is a qualification to enter the kingdom of God? My interpretation is that children have less preconceived notions than adults.

Food is a metaphor here for spiritual nourishment.
Ask and ye shall receive. Let him who hath ears, hear.
