yea green day as well. theyre new songs all sound the same and share the same theme and it gets boring and monotone to the brain. puts me into a sleep. They seem to be trying to be like the clash sometimes too

exception to this- Animal Collective
They are still in their prime though, I don't think they've been making music for long enough to tell the truth in that yet.
If you match their years with The Beatles they are around the Sgt Peppers stage.
They are on their like 9th album, that is a lot!!

It is, but in the same time it's not. Their lineup isn't consistent. When you have a collective of musicians you can write a lot of music, and I mean a lot. Especially the way they do their stuff.
It's an accomplishment, but with the way they do things it doesn't surprise me.

Their lineup isn't consistent? I thought it has been the same four guys the whole time.

Basically, but:
from wiki:
Quote:
Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members; the lineup is not uniform.
I know the new album only has three of the original guys on it. There's no guitar on the new album.

It's all still the same guys though. It's not like they change the lineup all the time or anything.

Yeah man, all I'm saying is that when you have a few different people pumping out parts for songs you can get a lot accomplished.

The only line up change is that Deakin hasn't been touring with them and is not in the new record, don't see how that makes is easier for the band?

Him leaving isn't making it easier. All I'm getting at is that when there is more than one person writing music, you can pump out songs like it ain't no thang.
Musicians are good at what they do; you go to work every day, a musician plays music everyday. If you just write one part for a song a week, say a song has 4-5 parts that's one song a month.(I consider this a slow rate btw) Times that by 3 or 4 people you have an album ready every six months. The next six months is touring for that album.

I hear what you are saying. But Animal Collective are still fucking awesome though I wish I had friends that lived near me and were into music like me so I can make my own collective

Music is the best form of collaboration. It's just something you have to do if you have any interest in music at all. You will find people down the road who would be interested in playing with you, just be patient.
Animal Collective took a long time to grow on me, but I enjoy listening to them now. A collective like what they have is straight up awesome.
