Of a Religious Man

inside out we crawl
penetrating the desolate flesh
of pestelence and disease

set your pistols on auto-fire
watching your being tread the high-wire
1-2 now count to 3
holy god, set your souls free

this is a poem of a religious man
this is a message from an empty man
existing without amen divine
peering through dark realms of mind

so let the distraught and distaste spit
let them have their newsflash
be sure to shut tight the window
yet let the latches be

through the lush green valleys
cross the rickety old bridge
a bright orange evening skyline
an evil duststorm looms on the distant horizon

a world filled with dreams
nothing is ever what it seems
close the luminous doors behind you
into the sacred river toss the golden key

even as the heels of the witches clack
dare not to look back
for if you someday do
your own shattered self
awaits the reflection you once called you
